Positive: This is a quirky place to stay, an eclectic haven in the desert crammed with all sorts of art, ephemera, bits and pieces collected by the owners. Go with an open mind and you’ll have a great time. Carlo and Jack are great hosts who serve up good food and a warm welcome.
Negative: The accommodation isn’t quite up to the price.

Positive: Villa Anita was a breath of fresh air. Carlo, Jack and Westin were exceptional, gracious hosts. Carlo is quite the creative chef and storyteller. The property itself is visually stimulating with art created from any and every source imaginable. The bungalow was stimulating and very comfortable. Peaceful and quiet location. Not for the Holiday Inn crowd.

Summary: My friend and I were at the end of a cycling adventure and our stay at Villa Anita was the perfect ending to our journey

Positive: Ever-developing art space that allows for full relaxation in a comfortable environment. We loved our little bungalow, watching the sunrise and starry sky around the property, and of course our hosts! Thanks also for the recommendation to check out China Ranch nearby - such a wonderful place for snacks and souvenirs.

Positive: We decided to stay here to experience the desert rather than rushing through it from Las Vegas to LA. This place was as immersive as we had hoped for. We loved that this was the home of the owners/artists and stepping foot from moonscape desert to this lush, humorous & maximalist labyrinth of trailers was exactly what we were hoping for. We found the owners to be engaging, kind and thoroughly themselves. They were helpful to us whenever we needed it and we loved our playful chats with them and tour through their up-cycled installations, garden and menagerie of cats and dogs.
Negative: I am addicted to my phone. Was I terrified that I couldn't access wifi from my room? Sure. But again, the goal was to BE in the desert not to be checking up on work, so if you go just have it in mind that wifi is closer to the owners home and not the rooms. We brought a couple cooler bags of snacks and supplies so we enjoyed staying on the property in our patio area, but we were there in November when there's cool weather.
Summary: Please know yourself. If everything I've said above sounds too much for you then you should consider finding less so

Positive: Carlo and Jack’s home is truly magical. Here you’ll find kind, creative, soulful people; incredible desert vistas; peerless skies with breathtaking stars; beautiful dogs; delicious food; hot springs nearby- more than can be mentioned honestly. Carlo, Jack and Weston are divine, if you have an open heart and curious mind you’ll be in heaven. Oh and the date farm up the road has the most ridiculously tasty date shakes.
Negative: No critiques, was a really special time. Highly recommend a night trip to the desert hot spring after dinner- doesn’t get better than shooting stars in nature’s jacuzzi.
Summary: Magical artist’s residence with unique, kind, welcoming people- in a gorgeous desert locale right outside Death Valley!

Positive: This is not just another hotel! The staff is amazing. The place is so cool and a great spot to relax. Lots of cool art throughout the premises. It is located right in the desert with great sunrise/sunset views. The food was great. They handled all our dietary needs with grace and deliciousness.

Positive: We signed up for a unique accommodation in the desert, and we did not know quite what to expect. We left with a memorable experience and an exposure to an extraordinary architectural artwork and the artists who have dedicated themselves to this unique experience. Be prepared to experience a personally authentic, creatively intense stay. This is not the Sheraton.
