Apartment offered for rental by private owner on a self-catering basis, ideal for holidays on the Greek mainland near Volos. Comfortable accommodation with several balconies for relaxing on as well as a large, shady, enclosed garden surrounded by olive groves.
This attractive property is on the edge of a quiet Greek seaside village about 7 mins walk from a sandy beach and the village centre. Swim in the Pagasitic Gulf, explore the cotton growing plains of Thessaly, scenic Pelion and lively Volos with its ouzeries. Come and experience life in a beautiful Greek village much appreciated by Greek holiday makers but off the beaten tourist track. Several other nice sandy beaches are within easy driving distance and many archaeological sites.
Spacious apartment with living room, bedroom, bathroom. Living room has kitchenette and double sofabed. There is air-conditioning in the bedroom. It offers three balconies to relax on with lovely views over the surrounding olive groves. You are welcome to use the garden for barbecues and younger children can enjoy the swing and slide you will find there. The apartment is offered for rent on a self-catering basis and is not a hotel. The Village: In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, some of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. It also has a bakery, greengrocer' and a general store with butcher's. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartments and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. There are 2 beach bars which also provide sun loungers for the price of a drink. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families who enjoy this unspoilt area of mainland Greece. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism. Sit in the village square looking out over the sea and watch the world go by or relax at the villa enjoying the lovely views whilst your children play in the garden of this Greek vacation rental villa.
The Area: As well as the sandy village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive dotted around the west side of the Pagasitic Gulf. There are also delightful Greek mountain villages to explore with extensive forested areas for walking. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos with its famous sandy beaches from the nearby seaside village of Achillion. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras.
Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos (where Mama Mia was filmed).
The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages of the Pagasitic Gulf or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views.
Further afield: If you want to venture further afield both classical Delphi (approx 120km) and the Byzantine monasteries of Meteora (approx 180km) make fascinating excursions as does the lesser known but stunning archaeological site of Dion (approx 170km). It is also possible to visit Vegina and Pella near Thessaloniiki for those who are keen on archaeology.
Visit Amaliapolis in Spring and see the hillsides covered in beautiful wildflowers. Birdspotters also will see a variety of birdlife. Take advantage of the lower temperatures in May or June if you want to sight see as well as swim. The sea is still wonderfully warm in September and October and the day time temperatures not quite so hot as July and August. Even in the winter months the weather is often bright and sunny.

Summary: We are a family of 5 who require non-smoking accommodations. This villa was large, comfortably furnished and emanating hospitality. The front yard is huge and perfect for the kids to run around in. It is a beautiful location, and the restaurants, beach and activities of Amaliapolis are minutes away. Definitely a quiet get-away for some relaxation time.

Summary: Nicely appointed apartment with all round balcony views on the edge of an unspoilt untouristy village, which has the benefit of a small but sandy beach ( perfect for small children) with beach taverna, a couple of decent fairly priced harbour tavernas , bars and minimarkets all within less than 10 minutes walk from the property. Seemingly remote it has easy access to the Greek equivalent M1 ( E 75) which gets you to a lot of good ancient sites and major cities like ( Lamia,Volos,Larissa) quickly. A seaside rural location so the usual rural animal and human cacophony is to be expected. Having some modern Greek helps as we met no-one there who spoke English fluently - marvellous! If you enjoy off the beaten track locations this is highly recommended.

Summary: Struggle to disagree with anything in the listings for this place. The owner was a pleasure to work with & all the further info we had after booking was faultless. The house was spotless on our arrival, it is set off the quiet road into the village about 50m down a dirt track which wasnt a problem even for our tiny peugot rental car. there is a view from the 2nd floor terrace/balcony across the village rooftops out into the gulf & most days a nice breeze so great for evenings cool downs with a g& t after a day on the beach the village itself is a 3 min walk to a small bridge where left & a further 2 mins take you to shops (basic but enough) & a few tavernas or right & a further 2 mins takes you to the small beach with its 2 well appointed but not noisy bars which cater for your beach needs with sun beds drinks & snacks. Night time in Amaliapolis doesnt really happen much before 9:30 & during our 2 weeks we ate at most tavernas at least twice (perhaps limited choices but great fresh food). Out & about the local towns, city (Volos), & small villages are all very rural but equally charming. One word of warning would be that we never saw another English person the whole time, so if you go expecting to find a copy of the sun a pint of carling & a full english breakfast you will be sadly dissapointed. On the other hand if you want to interact & perhaps try out your dodgy Greek I cant imagine a nicer place to go, everyone we met was friendly & always eager to help. The UK we came back to seemed a far more hectic place.....

Summary: Waking up with the sound of crickets and some chickens, taking a shower overlooking the olive trees, looking at the wild turtlles in the garden; we had the most relaxing time in Villa Christina. A most comfortable, clean, complete and perfectly maintained house with beautfiful terrasses in the authentic village Amaliapolis. Admitst olive trees the house is quiet, but close to everything; the beach, the taverna's and bars of the village. We found the house the perfect spot to explore the surroundings near the lively town of Volos. Amaliapolis is small, but complete. By car the most relaxed and wide beach of Nies can be reached. It is a great beach for family's with children. Almyros, the town close to Amaliapolis is a most friendly and authentic place; we loved going to the small shops with friendly people. A trip to the amazing monastries of Meteora is also possible and absolutly worth the 2 hour drive. Everything was perfect for a relaxing, pure Greek holliday. We will definitly return one day.

Summary: Owner had arranged a taxi to take us to our destination. Arrived hot & tired to find a clean,spacious and cool apartment. Basic food & drink supplies had been left in the fridge-everything had been carefully thought through.The apartment was very clean and well equipped. (Bed linen and towels were changed during our stay) The villa is in a peaceful area surrounded by olive groves, plenty of parking spaces if needed. We enjoyed eating out on the balcony in the cool of the evening and mornings. Very few flies! An easy walk to a superb beach-we are keen swimmers and this was by far the safest and cleanest water we have ever been in.Amaliapolis village is beautiful -catering for holiday makers yet not at all 'touristy' 2 Beach bars both tastefully designed allow you to use sunbeds etc as long as you but a drink.At night the local tavernas on the sea front are typically greek and very accommodating.We found everyone so friendly even though our greek is extremely limited! There was a small supermarket and bakery all within walking distance. We would highly recommend the villa for couples of all ages and it is also ideal for families. If you have a car you can travel further afield as we did and visit fascinating places such as Mount Olympus,the world heritage site at Meteora or numerous archaeological sites plus ferries to the islands. All these are listed in an information booklet in the apartment which was extremely useful and accurate. After 2 glorious weeks our holiday had to end and we can honestly we had the best of times. A big thank you to the owner!

Summary: I recommend this nice villa to stay for everyone that want to relax and have a beach nearby. The place was clean and very nice. All the equipment and tourist info included were usefull. The village is also very nice and the communication is OK. Don't hesitate to rent this villa.
