Livadia Villa | Villa Hermes - Extravagant, hideaway villa by the sea

3 Bedroom Villa in Livadia, keramoti

Nestled on a rocky hillside, this luxurious seaside retreat is a masterpiece of Mediterranean architecture. The waves crash onto the shore just a couple of metres below giving the villa the distinct impression of an anchored boat.
The entire property has been designed to blur the boundaries between the building and its stunning natural surroundings. Completely stripped of any superfluous décor, emphasizing the vista across the rugged coastline of Crete, the ever-so-cool monochrome interiors blend harmoniously with the rough, wild Cretan landscape. Wooden floors and minimalist furnishing in light wood paired with glass walls, steel and rock elements offer a twist that allows guests to remain focused on the views.
However, the X-Factor here is privacy: Bask in the serenity of a secluded property and drink in the endless blue of breathtaking sea views even from the beds of its three master bedrooms.
The first master bedroom, located on the ground floor, features an en-suite bathroom and, through its vast glass opening offers an unsurpassed view to the sea and to the illuminated rocks. The second and the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom located on the lower level has direct access to the plunge pool. A third master bedroom with its bathroom are found on the lower floor of the villa.
An absolutely autonomous guesthouse for visitors further enhances the feeling of exclusivity in this majestic villa as everything here adds up to an utterly relaxing retreat for families looking to connect and/or friends looking to relax and recharge in absolute serenity and total privacy.
Exterior
Layering itself down the side of a rocky cliff, the villa is cut into the landscape effortlessly embracing the elements of nature. Details, such as the big rock which has been turned into an element of the structure, or the small waterfall linking the property’s main pool with a plunge pool a level below, create a restful sanctuary of peace and serenity just a stone's throw from the beach. Meanwhile, the pool’s glass edge makes you feel as though the water flows right into the sea! Throughout the villa guests are encouraged to indulge in a joyful sense of harmony, which appeals to devotees of the Cretan spirit.
In this enchanting hideaway eco-awareness coexists with contemporary aesthetics. Frugal lines and straight edges frame the raw magnificence of the natural setting high above the Libyan Sea, without sacrificing the comfort of direct accessibility by car.
*** The rates shown include the main building of the villa (3 bedrooms, 6 people maximum). The use of the guesthouse, suitable for 3 persons, will be paid in addition.
Please be aware that a 15€ per night Climate Resilience Tax is applied to all reservations from 1st of March to 30th of October.

Summary: Everything about our stay was extraordinary. The house is incredible - an architectural masterpiece - the spaces are all created so well. Every bedroom is perfect, the many decks, the pools, THE VIEW all sublime, gorgeous, and restful. Dimitri took incredibly great care of us in all ways. He guided us to the villa, checked us in, bought us groceries, booked a boat tour, advised on beaches, arranged dinners, and made and brought us incredible breakfasts every day. We all loved everything about this house. It is quite remote, but that contributed to the harmony and peace beauty of our experience. We loved the local taverns. We drove to beaches. It was a perfect week and we will be back.

Summary: This home was everything that it purported to be - modern, beautiful, private, with a great layout (for a family or a group of friends.) The view from the home is amazing, and though it's part of a cluster of four uniquely designed spaces - all with private gardens and pools, it is truly secluded. What surprised us, though, was the care that we received from Filippa, the site manager; she was amazing! The AM breakfasts were sweet, and the nearby taverna run by Yanis and Xania was excellent.

The villa is very spacious an luxurious with a lot of windows so everywhere in the appt u have an amazing view of the sea. EVEN IN THE INDOOR JACUZZI AND SHOWER!! The villa has all the aminities that u should expect like BBQ well equipped kitchen and lovely staff that take care of everything we even got fresh fish delivered on request on day for our BBQ! They also had great tips for nice places to go do sightseeing we saw some beatiful beaches in the area and had great food thanks to them. We would definetly come back here for another stay.

Summary: The villa is even better than on the photos. Service is impeccable and high standard. Somebody was available at all hours in case of necessity. This is for everyone that wants a 5 star experience in all natural surroundings, loves peace and quiet, wants to go to sleep with the waves of the sea in their ears. A small piece of the road to this villa is not paved, a normal car can easily drive it but do not hire an extremely low set vehicle. A good local restaurant delivers meals to you on request and it is delicious.

Summary: Villa Hermes is EXQUISITE. Truly an incredibly special place. We stayed for two full weeks. The owner is incredibly helpful and always willing to help organize and plan your trip. The caretaker was equally helpful and, as he lives nearby, always on hand and available to help when needed. We had a few small issues with the A/C and the wifi, both of which were resolved immediately (though be warned, the wifi is very slow). During our three weeks on the island, we did not ever once see another villa even remotely as chic, modern and luxe as this one. They just don't exist on Crete, which makes this one even more unique and special. The architecture and decor are minimal and very high end, both incorporating the natural surroundings with wonderful touches like the indoor/outdoor herb garden, the rooftop gardens, the waterfall, the infinity edge pool, the wading pool...even the master toilet closet was an absolute work of art as it had a glass wall that looked at an illuminated boulder which had been cut in half and looked like an agate. The location is REMOTE...definately not the place to go if you are looking for nightlife. This is more for families and close knit groups who either want to luxuriate in a gorgeous slice of heaven overlooking the Mediterranean, or have a sense of adventure and want to explore the nearby tiny villages, gorges, rocky coves, monasteries, tavernas, etc. The property was impeccably clean, the listing was accurate in every way, and we would highly recommend Villa Hermes for those who want an incredibly magical and beautiful villa experience.

Summary: Even the superb photographs of Villa Hermes cannot do it justice - fantastic architecture, rocks and crystal-clear sea. The massive indoor/outdoor space when the main living area doors are completely open, with a large outdoor sofa about two or three steps from the pool, barbeque, or kitchen makes for a very lazy holiday if you wish it. Interior comfort level is very high, with excellent beds and bedding. The house is full of natural light but well-designed to avoid the heat of the sun, and at night - be prepared to spend a few moments mastering the myriad lighting options! But then too, if you like star-gazing there is next to no light pollution in this remote location. We had great food at several different tavernas but found it hard to beat our poolside barbeques at the villa (the trip into Kissamos to shop at the Carrefour is about 50 minutes, but along one of the prettiest drives on the planet). For a very high-end break off the beaten path, it would be hard to improve on this stunning property.

Summary: This was our first visit to Crete and we found the west coast to be almost entirely undeveloped and beautiful. We knew this was going to be a fantastic holiday when we saw the stunning villa Hermes. Brand new, glass and wood, amazing views and all the mod cons you could need. The infinity pool is large and has probably the best views I've ever experienced whilst in a swimming pool. It is THE best villa that any of our party has ever stayed at. We are two couples in our 40s/50s and we were looking for a relaxing holiday. We achieved that here. This may not be for everyone and I suspect that if we had brought teenagers they would have been bored. The nearest large town is a good 50 minutes drive via roads that are, in places, quite dangerous (mountainous, bendy and no barriers). There is a lovely taverna in Livadia (Run by the lovely Yanis), but it is not walkable. Nothing is! Yanis will deliver though. Sfinari beach is quiet, beautiful and great for swimming. There are three tavernas right next to the beach and it never got busy when we were there. Elafonisi lived up to expectations and was beautiful, but I found it a little too busy and preferred the quieter bays that you can find around every bend. Chania is worth a visit. It has a Venitian port that was spectacular and museums, shops and a market. The west coast doesn't have too much by way of archeological sites - they seem to be more to the east. We took advantage of the massage service available at the villa which was most appreciated by our party. We were also extremely well looked after by Mr Gregory who looks after the villas and can help you if you need anything (he managed to find us a bottle of champagne for my husbands birthday). There is a team of ladies who come in to change linen/towels several times a week. The property manager, Natasha, is really helpful and knowledgeable about the area and although this villa is not cheap to rent, you feel like you are getting the best service available. I would love to go back and, as long as you're happy to completely relax, I would recommend this villa and the west coast of Crete. One last thing, Creten people are really friendly and welcoming!

Summary: It was a great holiday! We stayed there with our family in the end of the August and it was one of the best holidays what we have had. The villa was beyond perfect! It was a modern, spacious and luxurious house located in an extremely beautiful place. The views from the villa where just breathtaking- absolutely beautiful sea views, sunset and views to the amazing Greek style nature. The villa had to pools, one for the adults and one shallow one just perfect for the kids. Every room had a beautiful balcony with a view to the sea, very comfortable beds, bathrooms and air conditioning. Also the kitchen was very well equipped and there was a nice grill outside too. Our family really loved the beach, which was just a few minutes walking from the villa (down the hill). The beach was nice and private and the water crystal clear. There is also a lovely taverna in the nearest village and it serves very delicious Greek style dishes- absolutely worth tasting! Our vacation in the villa was very peaceful and relaxing- everybody enjoyed it! I would kindly recommend this villa for other families too!

Summary: The villa is as good as it looks. The cooling breeze is most useful when the temperature reaches 35C; the staff are lovely and helpful - a most relaxing environment. Note: a long and winding journey to get there and an intermittent internet connection (not surprising). Strongly recommended for a quiet and tranquil break. The standard here is high.
