Positive: The grounds were lovely and the hosts were very attentive. The evening drink was a nice touch.

Negative: The sofa bed was small. I didn’t realise that it wasn’t a hotel, just lodges, so no hotel bar or breakfast room etc. The breakfast was provided daily to your lodge. These were items from the supermarket and some bread and croissants.

Positive: This was a beautiful place in a beautiful city. I loved hearing church bells, roosters and children playing soccer. José was an excellent host and we loved the daily port and even an excellent bottle of wine on our last night. I couldn’t get over the immaculate gardens. I loved staying in such a historical and beautiful place.

Negative: The hot water was touch and go a few days.
