This is a beautiful remote tranquil villa surrounded by 5 hectares of olive and almond groves plus other fruit trees in the immediate gardens around the villa. Help yourself to any ripe fruits. Although nestling in the mountains near Alora the villa is only 15 minutes from civilisation. The villa is equipped with all the modern appliances you need. All you need to do is throw some clothes in a bag. This three bedroom villa is solely for theuse of 2 guests. No one else to bother you. There is also the added bonus of a jacuzzi bath.
The ancient white washed town of Alora is steeped in history. The area was settled since prehistorical times, and was exploited for its commercial position by Tartessos and by the Phoenicians, who most likely built the castle. The Romans, after their conquest of Spain, restored the fortress and had here a municipium known as Iluritanum, as attested by an inscription dating to 79 BC. Nowadays there is plenty to see and do and a great selection of restaurants and bars. This is also a great location to explore great Spanish attractions nearby, El Chorro Gorge, Caminito del Rey walkway and of course the beautiful lakes . The coast is 45 minutes away by car or train.

Summary: We had a lovely 8 days at Villa Van Gogh. Communication with Derek was timely and he provided comprehensive instructions. There is a reasonable drive up into the moi trains and we were grateful that Pepe met us at a nearby restaurant to guide us up to the villa. The property is fantastic and has the most amazing views over the valley. The infinity pool was a perfect size for the two of us and provided some much needed cooling from the ever present sun. The aircon in the bedroom was excellent and there was also a fantastic spa bath which was wonderful after a day in the sun. The villa is very well appointed with all basic provisions (salt,oil etc) available. Malaga airport is about 50 mins away and Marbella and Puerta Banos just over an hour. Overall this was a perfect tranquil holiday and we highly recommend it Mark and Maria

Summary: We had an amazing week at the villa, this is the perfect place for a quiet getaway. The pool area is inviting and relaxing and gets good sun coverage. Theres a shaded area to eat your meals and patio sofas to relax on. The bedrooms have AC which is a must as the place can get very hot. Theres wifi, although could be abit faster, but it allows you to stay connected which is always nice and there are a few baord games which is always nice. Pepe the house keeper is friendly and extremely helpful and always just a message or call away. I highly recommend this place and will hopefully be revisiting. PS, careful when leaving as Google Maps may lead tou down a second dirt road which we had to backtrack due to a steep dirt hill.

Summary: A wonderful villa with a pool that was constantly warm. The main bedroom has air conditioning which is a must as we had daily temperatures in the high 30s. The view from the villa is stunning. TV, Bluetooth speaker system for music and all you need for a comfortable stay. In fact Derek arranged through Pepe to change a light bulb on an outside light almost instantly. Our only negative thoughts were with the drive from nearby Alora through the mountain roads to the villa itself and also the garden which had a watering system installed, stayed bone dry throughout our stay. All in all, we had a very peaceful and pleasent stay.

Summary: Villa Van Gogh is a spacious villa in a very remote setting so if you're after an escape this is a great place. The outside space is really great and gets sun most of the day. The views are amazing. The inside is quite dark and cool which I imagine in the summer is a blessing but as we stayed in February it was a little chilly. There is a wood burner and an electric heater though to keep you warm. The villa also had a good stock of basics in the kitchen and bathrooms. The communication with the hosts was easy and prompt. The check in was good, with someone meeting us in a local restaurant to show us to the villa. It was good that they did as the villa is off the main road and 2km along a dirt track which winds up the hill so be prepared for a slightly unusual drive! If you are going out of the main tourist season check in advance whether the pool will be available. We were only told after booking that it wouldn't be filled. We were also told that there is an issue with the electrics which means that if you use more than 3 appliances at once the electrics trip out and need to be reset in the garage (we were shown the switch when we arrived). This didn't actually cause us an issue when we were there but we were a little careful about what we were using simultaneously. Also be aware that the villa is near a flight path so there are planes going overhead a couple of times an hour which obviously creates some noise (though you probably can't get away from that if you want to stay close to Malaga). Overall this was a lovely villa for a remote getaway.

Summary: Great place! We absolutely loved our stay and didn’t want to return back home. It is not very often that a place lives up to the advertising. The pictures do not do it justice. This villa exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived we started to unwind and relax. So tranquil. So wonderful to be away from people and traffic. It feels like a hundred miles from civilisation yet Alora town is only 25 minutes away. Would be a great place to write a book. If you want to get away from it all this is the place.
