In this garden is a wine covered gazebo. This arbor, even on very warm days, is a pleasant "cool" oasis. The garden is mostly surrounded by a hedge and almost completely secluded.

short walks along the Kinzig along or in the nearby vineyards, to extensive day hikes.
History
This Art Nouveau villa was designed and built adjacent to the old monastery complex on the outskirts of Gengenbach around 1900 for a photographer by Offenburg architect Friedrich Abel.
The wishes of the client can still be seen today in the light-flooded rooms and the beautiful lighting.
Like any older house, this one has a long story to tell.
Here are just a few key facts.
In 1917 my grandfather Emil Bühler bought the villa. Emil was the son of the brewer and brewery owner Casimir Bühler in Gengenbach.
He moved in with wife, two young children and his mother.
The house was big enough, the two women got on well and had a very nice time. Frequently, convivial dance evenings and small parties took place in the villa. The family was an integral part of the cultural life in Gengenbach.
In wartime, the large window of the subject suffered considerable damage, and spread the family in different areas. After the war, the house was rented because of the housing shortage to several parties. Including a dentist with his family and his practice.
Also a French master tailor with her studio moved here.
But again and again, tenants moved in, who did not appreciate the charm, the lifestyle and the generosity of the house: a painter (artist), former submarine sailor in the 2nd. World War, transformed the house into a ship. As a result, over time it licked some corners and water entered the house. As a true sailor, a little bit of water is not bad!
But now the house had passed into my possession; I was glad when I was able to dry the "ship". Over the years, the villa had suffered a lot. It was an intense Auseinadersetzung with the life in such a villa instead. I wanted to give her as much as possible, the old charm and the original color again. (By that time, all the doors, railings, and woodwork had been painted over in a dark dreary brown.) Even the truss was framed in that lifeless hue.)
After two years it was done: the windows were made after the original with the original fittings. A new parquet floor has been relocated. The heating system and heaters have been renewed. The large Art Nouveau window - of which there were only parts left - was lovingly restored. The roof newly covered and fully insulated. The house was listed as a historical monument.
