Bills Lake is a spring-fed all-sports lake. It is extremely clear and clean. The beach is grass covered and there is a great deal of shallow water by the shore for wading. The dock is long enough to accommodate your speed boat if you wish to bring one. The depth of the water at the end of the dock is about waist deep and is hard bottom from years of swimming. There is a drop off to deep water about 25' off the end of the dock. Fishermen seem to love the drop off so you can see right where it is. No weeds. The cottage was built in the 40s with fieldstone and logs. It sits on 3 acres and has 125' of lake frontage. Sleeps up to 10. Bedroom #1 has a queen bed, Bedroom #2 has a queen bed and Bedroom #3 has two built in bunk beds (4 twin size). The living room has a futon couch that can be used for additional sleep space. Two kayaks, canoe, paddleboat and row boat on site. There is a battery-operated trolling motor on the small row boat. Pets considered, but a non-refundable pet deposit of $100 per pet will be required. Fire pit with firewood provided. Cable TV and internet. The TV does have an HDMI port for playing movies off your laptop. Washer and dryer. Attached garage with garage door opener. Bed linens, kitchen towels, bath linens, paper towel and toilet paper included. Please bring your own beach towels and life jackets. Rentals are Sunday to Sunday. I try to be clear that this is a vintage cottage. This is the cottage your grandparents had when you were a kid and you have fond memories of sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows, fishing off the dock, canoeing and looking for turtles in the swamp, trying to catch the bullfrogs that croak at night, the tree frogs and cicadas singing, the loons on the lake, the owls hooting and the whippoorwills calling. Playing board games on rainy days. Making the best-tasting hand-crank ice cream. Oh, and swimming. It's not a crisis when your kids come inside with wet bathing suits and sandy feet. I allow dogs because I love dogs and we always had dogs up there. My dad built the place with his own two hands (and the help of his younger brothers) before he went off to the Korean conflict. I have a weekly lawn service come in and mow, etc. If you are looking for dry wall, carpet, central air, high-end furniture, and granite counter tops, then this is not the rental for you. This rental is more about providing your children and grandchildren with memories of a time gone by.
Bills Lake also has its own free library. It is open on weekends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
