Positive: Location was a 5 minute drive to the Wailea Gold Golf Course where our daughter had a 3-day tournament, and a 2 minute drive to The Shops at Wailea where Island Gourmet Markets (opens at 10am) had a lot of reasonable food options (as well as a Teapresso Bar). Kraken Coffee (opens at 8a) was also close by at Wailea Gateway for early morning hot coffee, tea and bagels. Well maintained unit and the bathroom amenities (soaps, shampoo and conditioner) were excellent. Appreciated that there was a lighted makeup mirror available. Bedding and towels were better than what you get in hotels/resorts. the option to either use the aircon units or ceiling fans was nice. We definitely appreciated the washer/dryer and dishwasher and used them all 3 nights. We were also fortunate to have the one guest parking stall outside the unit -- altho we saw that other guest stalls weren't too far away. We had a nice golf course view and often saw golfers throughout our stay, and the sunsets also were great to see. Since the luxury resorts were out of our price range, this was an excellent choice over a number of other hotels in Kihei that we looked into. Our teenage daughter enjoyed having her own room/space and bathroom (altho she did use the walk in shower in the master), and the king beds were awesome. Surroundings were very quiet. Living and dining area were comfortable. The entire unit was exactly as it was pictured in the listing.
Negative: Rating is still 10/10, but just some helpful info for the hosts, management & future guests. We're from Honolulu so understand roaches, geckos and flies. No roaches or geckos in the unit, but had to deal with a number of large flies - no idea how they got in, as we kept all windows and door closed. They were slow and easy to kill so it wasn't a big deal, but could not leave food uncovered on the counter when we had our meals family style. For the 4 day stay, we killed about 2 dozen flies. Unit was cleaned before our arrival, but for some reason our feet got dirty in the main living/dining area & kitchen. We bought cheap flip flops at Long's to use as house slippers in the living/dining/kitchen area so that we wouldn't have dirty feet walking on the bedroom carpets. Would have liked a more detailed list of what was available in the pantry. We made a market run before checking in and would have purchased cooking oil/butter if we knew it wasn't on hand. Also would have been helpful if the cleaners or someone had turned on icemaker. It did not make enough on the first night for what we needed on the first day of the tournament (ice for 3 large water bottles and a small cooler), so we had to purchase a bag of ice on a late night market run. By the next afternoon, there was ample ice. A large group (teens and adults) monopolized the pool every late afternoon/evening (non locals) and monopolized the three gas grills the first 2 nights and made it awkward for my husband to ask to use one of the grills the first night. Night 2 the same group was on 2 grills and told my husband he could use the third grill --- which he soon discovered had no propane left. So he had to seek our the other pool to grill our dinner. Info binder needs to be updated - one page said to load/run the dishwasher before leaving and another page said load and DON'T run.
Summary: Excellent alternative to the luxury resorts, pictures in listing are accurate and up to date!
