Welcome to one of the most desirable properties on Big Star Lake, a beautiful all-sports lake located in the heart of the Manistee National Forest. This unique rental comfortably sleeps 18 and features two distinct homes with 100 feet of private, sugar sand beach.
The Main House has 3 Bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus an expansive upper living area with 2 sets of twin/full bunks and 2 additional trundle twins. Large lakefront windows provide sensational views of the lake from every angle. The open main floor living area with beautiful reclaimed wood floors has a large fireplace anchored at one end, and a gourmet kitchen at the other, complete with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, walk-in pantry, and all the food prep and cooking/serving implements you could want.
The adjacent guest house has two more bedrooms (1 queen/2 twins), a full bathroom, living room with gas fireplace and brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances and spectacular views of the lake. The guest house also features a 28' x 12' screened lakefront porch, the perfect spot for your morning coffee or evening cocktail.
Collectively, this 5 bedroom/4 bath property is the perfect setting for family & friends to come together and make amazing memories.
Summertime:
Soak up the sun on 100 ft. of private, sugar-sand beach. The gradual grade into the lake is ideal for families with small children. Secure your boat to our 75' dock with swim ladder, or enjoy one of our watercraft: 2 stand up paddle boards, 2 kayaks and a paddleboat. Relax in a hammock or our luxury resort beach chairs with umbrellas. The attached main house garage features an eclectic bar with ping-pong, darts, game table and ring the bull, and just outside, enjoy corn hole.
Gather around our large, beach fire pit, enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, ATV trails, world-class trout streams, nearby golfing and countless excursions. Watch bald eagles soar above and fish the lake, listen to the call of the loon, soak in all the sights and sounds of lake life. Fall:

Take a drive to Traverse City for wine tasting, or watch the sun set over the coast of Lake Michigan, both easy day trips.
Winter:
Bring on the snow! The snowmobile trails go on & on and ice fishing is popular. The quiet, calm surroundings are so beautiful. This is a perfect spot to celebrate the holidays with family & friends. Enjoy a peaceful hike around the lake, then cozy up inside with some hot cocoa.
Springtime:
Nature is awakening and the lake is wide open. You may even be lucky enough to witness a spectacular Northern Lights show. Every season is better at the lake!
In peak summer season (June, July, August) the Main House is rented along with the adjacent guest house for one week minimum stays. During the off-season, options include renting homes separately or together for 3 night stay minimum

Summary: Our group of 16 family members stayed here for a wedding and everyone had a fabulous time. The two homes met our needs and more, and we felt like we were living on the lake with all our neighbor friends for five days. Really appreciated the deck and all the outdoor furniture, plus the bag toss, and dock for the borrowed jet skis. Just note that half the beds are in one large room, so these folks need to be OK with sharing a "bedroom". OK for kids, not ideal for adults.

Summary: We highly recommend this property. Two homes with an absolutely beautiful view of the lake. Property has awesome dock, kayaks and paddle boards and fire pit on beach. Laurie was very accesible with any questions. Kitchen in main home was great. And living quarters etc top notch. We go to this area annually fo fishing and look forward to staying here again. Summary: Our family just concluded a week of vacation at this property near Baldwin, Michigan and cannot say enough wonderful things about the amenities provided and the cleanliness of the homes. The hosts were wonderful to work with and happy to help in any way and were easy to reach, if needed. We appreciated having a kitchen with very nice appliances, a comfortable dining and living room area where we spent a lot of time, and comfortable beds for all sixteen people in our group. The beach area was definitely a favorite for all, as the water was so clear and the sand was beautiful. We appreciated getting to use the many comfortable beach chairs and the paddle boats, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. The hosts truly thought of everything—helping to make this a week our family will fondly remember for many years to come!

Summary: We had a wonderful family vacation at Big Star Lake. There were 17 of us split between the 2 houses with ages from 9 months to 80 years old. The house is clean and welcoming. The beach and outdoor activities were amazing and utilized each day. We rented a boat and explored the lake during our week at Big Star! There were resturants close that we tried and also cooked breakfast and lunches in the kitchen. We traveled to the Silver Lake area and rode the Sand Dunes. When we first chose the house on VRBO the filters included houses with hot tubs. This was listed with one but after i booked was not listed in the amenities. I think this is a VRBO issue and not the owners fault. Overall wonderful vacation full of fun and lots of memories!

Summary: Vacationed with 8 adults and 7 children under 10. A very warm and welcoming home with very thoughtful and plentiful amenities. There was room for everyone even on a rainy morning. We enjoyed a beautiful display of fireworks, kayaking, paddle boarding, games on the lawn and in the garage, fishing and relaxing on the beach. The perfect up north lake experience! Thank you Laurie. We look forward to returning to Big Star Lakehouse.

Summary: We are group of friends that have fished together in Baldwin for over 25 years and we’re fortunate to find this great property. The 2 house adjacent to one another and on the lake made for a great stay and we are already planning to come back again next year. While our trip is always in the fall…this place would be absolutely amazing in summertime as well!
