Escape to The Cottage at Hemlock Pond, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. This home overlooks its own private pond with winter mountain views. It boasts a separate game room complete with air hockey, ping-pong, and more. Bring a fishing pole for catch and release fishing in your front yard! Just minutes from historic downtown Franklin, hiking, waterfalls, fishing, local brews, gem mining and more. After a day of fun, come back home to roast s'mores on the fire table.
This sweet cottage is newly renovated. You will sleep in luxury on the new Dream Cloud King mattress. The full bed and fold away are all new as well with memory foam for extra comfort. One of our favorite places is the covered front porch where we can enjoy a warm cup of coffee in the morning while looking out over the pond. The sunset is also beautiful with a winter view of the mountains. Roasting s'moores over the fire table is always a kids favorite.
The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, utensils, glassware, wine glasses and more. The coffee nook off the dining room is stocked with a variety of coffee and even some hot chocolate! Complementary oatmeal, snack bars, and more are also found here as a special treat to our guests.
Up for some friendly competition? The game room is located at the bottom of the hill in what used to be the garage. Being a garage there is an incline to the room, but we have tried to level the game table as much as possible. The game table converts from an air hockey table to a ping pong table and then back to a normal table to play board games with your family and friends.
The pond is not only beautiful, but it is also stocked with Bream and Bass. Bring your own poles to enjoy catch and release fishing in your own front yard.
The cottage is conveniently located only 4 miles to down town Franklin where you can find a historic museum, eateries, shops and more. It is also a short 30 minute drive to the Highlands and Dillsboro for shopping and dining. Gem mining abounds in Franklin, as it is the Gem mining capital of the world! Looking for some fun outdoors? You have come to right place! Hiking, waterfalls, and spectacular views can all be found close to Franklin.

Summary: A great little house in town with beautiful trees all around so it feels like you are NOT in town. The only thing I would say is that there are roosters and dogs that bark incessantly all morning so morning time was not as peaceful as I would have enjoyed but I think that is the trade off for being in town and minutes from everything. We would definitely stay again if we needed a place in town. Big fenced in back yard for our dogs too and feeding the fish in the pond was sweet. Great hosts as well. Quick response and very thoughtful in the amenities. Also a great game room if you do come with your family.

Summary: This was a nice property. We went a time when it was cold so didn’t get to enjoy it as much as we liked. The owner was so helpful when I had to call her several times about the weather.

Summary: We loved our stay at this rental in Franklin! Small....but a lot of thought put into all the details that are needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was new and comfortable and the bedding super soft. The style put into the furniture and decor really made the place feel fresh and new. It was also impeccablely clean! Our kids loved going down to the pond to feed the fish some of the fish food the owner provided for us. Would definitely stay here again!

Summary: It was a wonderful place to stay and the little amenities like the coffee nook an sweet treats were wonderful. The game room was terrific and it has an air hockey and ping pong table to boot. Be mindful that if you hear water rushing at 3 in the morning, it’s just the water tanks back washing and not a big deal..

Summary: Kari was a wonderful host providing so many extras beyond what you would expect: K-cups, snacks, even a toothbrush/toothpaste that came in handy when our grandson spent a few nights with us. Beds and seating were very comfortable, and views of the pond and mountains from the front were beautiful. The game room was a big hit, especially the air hockey. The daffodils beginning to bloom on the walk down to it were a nice touch. One warning: if you check in after dark: be careful when you turn into driveway as the turn is very sharp. If you don't make the turn, you may find the pond which is right by the drive and Bethel Chapel Rd, but not easy to see in the dark.
