Rowena guest house with private beach in beautiful, secluded setting with lush lawns, plenty of shade and protection from the wind, safe river access and amazing, uncrowded windsurfing from our backyard beach!
Clean and comfortable accommodations in a magnificent setting. Four bedrooms with 3.5 bathrooms, kitchen and dining / living room with a smart TV. One king sized bed, two queen beds and two twin beds. Deck and BBQ. We supply bedding and sheets. Accommodates up to 6 including adults and kids with space for up to two guest cars. Rowena has world class windsurfing, kite sailing, road biking with endless miles of flat, and hilly country roads Great mountain biking nearby and all the things that the Gorge has to offer at your finger tips.
Note: Owners live in main house on site, in between guesthouse and the river. Renters are not allowed to invite any additional guests without owner's express prior consent.

Summary: The location is just gorgeous! The beds are comfy and everything works! Just a couple of small messes in the kitchen upon arrival- used coffee filter and puddle of standing water in bottom of fridge. Also, the nearby train in the middle of the night took a night to get used to. But otherwise beautiful and quiet setting. And Joe was easy to work with.

Summary: Joe’s property met all our needs and he’s a great host! I stayed here for a wedding with family and my 9 month old daughter. Pros: The property comes with all the amenities (sans shampoo and conditioner) and was very clean. Cons: There were quite a few spiders lingering when we arrived (maybe the property had been empty for a bit, not sure) and I was a tad nervous about my daughter crawling around, the hot water didn’t last if we all needed to shower at the same time (so maybe plan ahead if multiple people need to shower), I’m also a top sheet kinda girl, and our beds only had the comforters and bottom sheet. Overall, the property met all our needs and is in a beautiful location. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio and walking down to the water. Joe was a great host, very responsive, and accommodating. We’d stay here again!

Summary: It is in one of the best places in the world for water/wind sports. The property gives complete access but also has a very comfortable and summery environment. The views are stunning, the simplicity of accommodation makes you feel on vacation every minute, and easy and quick access to other outdoor and townie activities makes it a great family spot. We'll be back with everyone!

Summary: We stayed at Joe's rental for a month during the COVID pandemic this summer. It was the ideal retreat. Quiet and restful and perfectly situated just outside of Hood River for privacy and space, but close enough to go into town for dinner or the market, or the windsurf shop, etc. The grounds at Joe's place are exceptional. Big green lawn, trees, a mix of shade and sun, and a little beach access at the waters edge. You are literally on the Columbia River Gorge when you stay at Joe's, so you can keep your rigs set up and just grab and go when the wind is up. We windsurfed and wing folied. Amazing spot . When the wind wasn't up, we used our SUPs up and down the river or swam. And we also easily accessed incredibly beautiful hikes at nearby Mount Hood National Forest as well as road and mountain biking nearby the house. The rental shares the property with Joe's main house. Because of the pandemic, Joe and his family were on the property with us for the whole time and it was terrific. They are delightful, genuinely kind people, and they set us up with anything we needed. We had no trouble distancing since there is so much room on the grounds. It was really a perfect stay for a windsurfing family.
