Unwind from daily life in what may be the most unique cabin in this neck of the woods, located on a 1.3-acre private peninsula with about 500 feet of shoreline and a private sand beach.
Start your day with coffee on the beach or pier, watching the eagles, otters, hummingbirds, peckers, and resident loons. Greet the sunrise or sleep in... your choice. No schedule! Explore the woods and commune with nature to your heart's content. Spend a lazy afternoon in the screen house with a good book, on the beach catching some sun, or in the hammock, snoozing and dreaming. After a day of swimming and fishing, gather around the fire on the beach while you watch the night sky glitter on the lake. And when it's time to turn in, enjoy the comforts of home, away from home.
DP is a humble, unpretentious, family-friendly cabin that comfortably sleeps 7 adults (2 california king beds, full-over-full bunk, and living room futon), sleeps 8 if you really like each other and share the bunks. A pack 'n play is available for your baby and a bed rail for your littles.
Your pups are family, too, so they're welcome as long as they're well behaved. We ask that they be current on vaccinations, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. (Please note that a pet fee does apply.)
Everything you'll need for a comfy stay is provided (we hope), including games, puzzles, toys, DVDs, and reading material for rainy day entertainment. No WiFi or cable (it is, after all, Decompression Point), but there's a whole-house generator so you'll never miss out on your morning coffee, no matter the weather.
The cabin is situated on beautiful, peaceful Pickerel Lake. The lake is 72 acres in size, 14 feet deep, and has panfish, largemouth bass and northern pike. There is a public boat landing for your personal watercraft. Rowboat, canoe, pedal boat, adult and kid kayaks are part of your stay. *** This is a no-wake lake ***
Rhinelander, Merrill and Tomahawk are easy jaunts away for shopping and entertainment. Visit the Hodag! The cabin has direct access to the Harrison Hills ATV trails and is convenient to the Harrison Hills Ice Age hiking trail if you want to get your steps in.

Summary: This property is exactly as described. We had all the comforts of home, but in a beautiful woodsy setting. We enjoyed fishing and swimming, the beautiful view of the lake from inside and outside the house, kaykayaking

Summary: This is our second time staying here, the prior time being in late fall. Communication and ease of check-in is great. We were at the tail end of what probably was a busy summer stay at this property so some of the smaller items were close to needing to be replaced or repaired (some chairs/kayaks). This had no impact on our stay and I gave the owners a heads up. There was a new hammock that was used often and a beautiful screen room that was great, but the bugs weren't bad at all. The location is peaceful and what I truly appreciate is that this property sits on a peninsula, so you really feel like there is no one around. The property is easily traversed and the fire gazing by the water as you view the stars in the night sky brings back the memories of camping as a kid. We had a great stay, some great weather and for the novice fisherman there are tons of small blue gills right under the pier to keep the young fisherman happy and mom/dad busy.

Summary: Everything a family could possibly need to relax in the Northwoods! This was our second visit and it feels like home. Having inside and outside toys and games available really helps to keep the trip light on packing and heavy on adventuring. Beautiful, fun getaway!

Summary: This truly was a beautiful spot to stay! Amazing cabin with everything that you need. This was perfect for four adults and two children with room to spare. Our grandchildren couldn’t wait to stay at the “round house” and I have to admit it was better than we even expected! Enjoy all the outdoor activities such as swimming and non motorized boats, swing set, sand toys with perfect beach for little ones. Hosts were very easy to contact should you have any questions. Definitely would recommend!

Summary: This place is a little slice of “Up North” heaven. The owners provide you with anything you need for a perfect family vacation. Don’t feel the need to overpack. They have thought of everything from the campfire to the kitchen to the towels, even toys and a playpen for babies. The property is well-maintained and secluded with a pier. Our little ones spent hours feeding fish from the pier, swimming and enjoying campfires. If you are looking to unplug and reconnect with nature and your family this is the place.

Summary: The listing is accurate! Decompression Point is the perfect name. Though the weather decided it wanted to rear its ugly head we enjoyed our stay. The home is aptly stocked with things to do, the wildlife out the windows and the views made for any time we couldn’t spend outdoors. The fishing was great, though we didn’t catch any impressive fish we did catch enough panfish for a little fish fry. The “locals” on the lake doing their daily/nightly jaunts were very friendly. We even saw a woman kayak with her cat! My daughter thought that was the coolest thing ever! We collected our fair share of “shells” from just off the dock. Its location is close enough to things to do outside the property. We loved our stay and are hoping to book another stay!
