“How strange to be in this vast, opulent villa in St Lucia by myself. I wander through the seven double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. White walls, high ceilings, dark-wood floors, high airy rooms with ocean views – where in this wilderness of elegance shall I sleep? I settle on an upstairs room with a four-poster bed and a balcony the size of a cricket pitch. Where shall I drink alone? Between the balcony, the veranda, the deck and the gazebo by the swimming pool, there are at least a dozen prime drinking chairs, and every time I sit down with my glass of rum, I feel like sitting somewhere else. The sun is setting over the Caribbean: the landscaped gardens are full of flowers: mangos and limes hang ripe on the trees.”

Tamarind is high up on Cap Estate with clear views to the Atlantic and Caribbean and overlooks the Cap Estate 18-hole golf course - 5 minutes away by car. The house has recently been totally refurbished and extended to the highest standard. Caribbean beaches, shops, and restaurants at Rodney Bay, 5 minutes by car; Atlantic beaches a mere 15 minute walk. All kinds of water sports at every resort. Scuba diving is particularly good at Anse Chastenet. Excellent restaurants and bars, live West Indian music at Rodney Bay. Don't forget Gros Islet's Friday Night 'Jump-up' or the world renowned annual Jazz festival in May.

What is Tamarind like? : Tamarind, built in 1991, has superb views towards the Caribbean in the west and the Atlantic in the east. Facing south and overlooking the golf course, the house is situated in an acre of beatifully landscaped garden with mango, avocado, lime, coconut, breadfruit and tamarind trees. The design of the house makes maximum use of local stone and wood combining a west Indian feel with every modern amenity. The house has 7 air-conditioned bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. Downstairs wooden louvres and high ceilings throughout catch the cool Atlantic breeze and provide an overwhelming feeling of space. Even in the warmer summer months the house is cool. The three downstairs ensuite bedrooms each open on to the outside balcony providing separate and individual outdoor privacy. Where is Tamarind located? : Tamarind is located at the northern end of St. Lucia on Cap Estate, a development of luxury villas. Many St. Lucians, British and Americans live on the estate. Five minutes walking distance from the house are some beautiful hiking trails along the Atlantic coast and lovely secluded unspoilt beaches. The superb Cap Estate golf course is minutes away by car, also squash, tennis and a gym. Beaches are close by with scuba diving, sailing, and other water sports. Castries, the capital is 20 minutes away; Soufriere is an hour's drive with its slower more relaxed west Indian life style, the famous twin pitons, sulfur springs, tropical rain forest hikes, excellent beaches, and marvellous local restaurants.

Summary: A long time between visits to Tamarind Villa ands we weren’t disappointed. Lydia and Merlinda were still there keeping the harmonious relaxed atmosphere and literally welcoming us with open arms. We all had a wonderful time on this wonderful island. Thankyou to to Zoe ( and Marguerite ) who made for a seemless vacation. Aiming to be much less than 11 years before our next visit……

Summary: My guests and I had such an amazing trip in st Lucia and the tamarind villa was by far the reason why. The panoramic views were absolutely stunning with both ocean and Mountain Views! The housekeepers (Malinda and Lydia), property manager (margret) and Francis were all so welcoming and accommodating throughout the whole trip. Communication was great. I would definitely recommend booking this villa!

Summary: We had an excellent time at Tamarind Villa. Would have liked to have spent more time there but were busy exploring the island. Suggestions to potential renters: 1) Rent a 4x drive vehicle, the island roads can be steep, 2) Consider the time of year you visit on account of temperature and mosquitoes... Summer a bit hot and buggy. At the villa however, all the bedrooms had AC so very comfortable at night. The common areas were a bit warm and a bit of mosquito activity... Highly recommend nevertheless...

Summary: Everything about this experience was amazing. The villa was beautiful and extremely clean. Merlinda and Lydia spoiled us with delicious meals and desserts. We were able to easily navigate the island with the help of Thierry and felt extremely safe on the gated property knowing Frances was around if we needed him. We cannot wait to return to our little slice of heaven!

Summary: What a slice of heaven, views of the ocean and sea!! The house is even more fantastic in person. Merlinda is wonderful, she cooked breakfast every day for us, and made us salads for lunch. She made a wonderful key lime pie, as well as a cheesecake. She will also prepare dinner for you to warm up, as she leaves around 3:30. Frances and Lydia keep the house and pool immaculate. We had Terry as our driver to and from the airport, as well as small trips we made during our stay, he even delivered pizza and vodka to the house one evening. We took advantage of the doctor for our return covid tests and that went really smooth. Things to note: 1. We did not take advantage of the start up groceries, but instead went over food options when we met Merlinda on our first morning. She and Frances were able to pick up our groceries which was wonderful. However please note if you are arriving from a long day of travel you may want to pick something up to eat. The villa is not in walking distance and with Corvid there is a curfew, making evening delivery impossible. 2. The house has a very open air concept, things worked best when the bedrooms remained closed after dark to avoid mosquitos and other pests. Nice breeze most of the time so that helped. Bottom line, turn on your air and close up your bedroom before nightfall.. Evenings by the pool and patio were fine, enough of a breeze to be lovely.. WE WILL DEFINETLY BE BACK!

Summary: This was one of my most memorable stays in a vrbo. The house, the staff, the views, everything was perfect. I would just make sure to bring bug spray because there are mosquitos at night. Nurse came right to the house to do our pcr tests. The house is a gated property overseen by Francis who is always available if there’s any issues. Merlinda is an amazing cook! Lydia was always helpful with all our needs. Be mindful that the house is about 1 1/2 hours from main attractions but close to some beautiful beaches Smugglers cove being our favorite, but you can’t rent chairs or umbrellas, reserved for resort guests only. Naked fisherman restaurant was delicous. Pigeon island was equally nice and you can rent chairs and umbrellas restaurant on site. I would stay here again for sure

Summary: My group of 8 had the best experience at this Villa for my birthday. The house was clean, the views were Amazing, and the location was quiet. The Property Manager went above and beyond and helped us through some hiccups. Everyone who worked on the property were extremely accommodating and nice. The villa is in a quiet neighborhood and you can’t walk to anything except maybe the golf course but we didn’t mind. Side note that we didn’t realize until after we arrived- all plugs (in st. Lucia in general) are UK plugs, so bring converters (they have one main one in the dining room) if you need one. There were slight issues with a couple of the bedroom ACs not getting too cold but someone came and fixed them in a timely manner so it didn’t brother us. At night its pretty cool and you could sleep with just a fan if you wanted. The main fridge wasn’t getting cold either, they called someone to fix it, but in the meantime we used the additional fridge they had… so again, a small solvable issue we didn’t mind too much. I would probably suggest that they get a WiFi extender so it could reach better throughout the house and patio area. Overall, this was the best vacation and already considering planning another trip!

Summary: Tamarind Villa is in a wonderful position overlooking both the Atlantic and Caribbean Seas, but high up to catch the views and the breezes to ensure comfort. The facilities of the villa are second to none, from the accommodation to the charming and friendly staff who will rustle up a West indian dish and also the cocktails to go with it. There are plenty of local facilites in the luxurious Cap Estate and nearby in Rodney Bay and in Castries, including restaurants, shopping and the marina.

Summary: Tamarind is a stunning, exceptionally comfortable villa in a colonial style. Beautifully furnished throughout with very comfortable beds, excellent friendly staff and many little "extra touches". Highlights about the villa for us were the long verandas with beds, hammocks and chairs to sleep in, spectacular views to both coasts and the gazebo for sundowners. The villa is perfectly situated as it has all the advantages of the Cap Estate but most importantly gets the breeze (other villas that we have stayed at can be unbearaby hot). Thoroughly recommend this villa.
