4 Bedroom House in Masfjorden

You may think you can do without all the modern conveniences, but do you dare? This cabin is "back to nature". It is insulated for year-round use. It is deliberately designed to disconnect from the busy everyday life and see how we can actually manage, in a more environmentally friendly way. The value of doing things together, without all the technology we surround ourselves in our daily lives, is indescribable and must be experienced. The fact that things take time gives a sense of freedom. Nothing must be done in a jiffy. Cumbersome? Maybe a little, but also very rewarding. The experience of peace and quiet here is medicine for most people. We only live two kilometers away, so we can help with laundry if desired. There is no wifi and it is conscious, because we do not want to spend time online, but if you need it for practical use, feel free to use the wireless network in the house where we live. Similarly, if there is a need to freeze items for example fish or berries, you can freeze it at the house we live in. The guest house is 120m2 with 4 bedrooms. 3 up and 1 down. Lots of space inside for both adults and children. It has solar panels, gas stove, gas fridge and a fireplace in the living room. Manual pump shower, washbasin and biological toilet in a separate attachment. Water must be collected from lake nearby. One can charge cell phones by the solar penal. Plenty of cold drinking water from a 40 liter milk can in the kitchen. We will provide you with more, when needed. Outside there are two sun terraces, barbecue area, trampoline and plenty of space for different games and toys. This is the place for those who want to "log out" of modern stress. There are two hammocks for use outside. There is freshwater fishing in the lake directly across from the guest house and deep sea fishing in the fjord 5 min. away by car. You can, if you wish, fish in several lakes (at least 6 fishing waters in the area). In the lake from the guest house it is great to swim. The same can be said about the fjord. You can take the boat out to the islands, bring food and stay there every day if you wish. Great opportunities for mountains and forest hiking. Berries and mushrooms can easily be found and harvested in late summer / early autumn. The guest house is located near a river with salmon and sea trout. You are welcome to use a 10 foot boat in the lake and also a 13 foot boat with 5 hp fishing / swimming engine in the fjord just five minutes drive from the cabin (included in the rent, pay only for patrol).
We have collected booklets, printed maps of the area and written about things to do while enjoying your stay. That's all in our information package in the guesthouse.

Summary: The house is beautiful and Berit and Roy are really making an effort to make arrival an experience. They are there when you call for help but if you don’t they leave you alone. Since there is only some solar power for lighting we barely used our mobiles (which was possible). And the kids started reading books! With the gas powered stove and fridge and the fireplace you really don’t miss anything. Using the pneumatic shower or the bucket from the river or the rain water is really part of the fun you start wondering why you are usually in need for so much water. We could have used the washing machine at Berit‘s Roy‘s home (10 min away) but we did not. We used the two boats that belong to the house one on the river and a motorized one on the fjord for fishing and fun. Since we brought our bikes we cycled the nearby roads through mountains, valleys and across islands. Landscape is really nice. The nearby supermarket is sufficient and at the equally far away school (15 min drive) we used the sports facilities. The stay was really great and we rearranged our living room thanks to the inspiring arrangements in the house. Thanks Berit and Roy.

Summary: Being for the first time in Norway we were lucky in many ways. We had the pleasure to meet Berit, Roy and their family, who recieved us with great kindness and were there for us, whenever needed. The cabin, in which we spent our 10 days, is as cosy as functional and in perfekt shape. We felt home from the first moment. It´s located nearby the "house-lake", in which we swam and fished every day. There is a little road to cross, seldom used and so no annoyance at all. The long, relaxed summerdays we spent by fishing, swimming, making trips to the nearby coast as well as to the Sognefjord (spectacular views on the way and there),where we enjoyed tasty fish in the brekkestranda Fjordhotel. The absence of electronic distraction was really relaxing and made us see and feel the beauty of the nature around us. I am very happy to have chosen this place and looking forward to return.

Summary: Berit and Roy are really nice people. They provided so much Services and advise besides the normal rental Business. The cabin is the best Place to calm down we have ever been to - it is really lovely. And we have lost our fear of the pump shower. After the first shower we have started to love it and now we already miss it. Actually we miss this cosy cabin, the amazing landscape and of course Berit & Roy. We definitely recommend this cabin. Enjoy it!

Summary: For us it is the perfect combination - a not commonplace and obviously better way of life, a special luxury cabin for rest and relaxation, varied breathtaking landscapes and last but not least the most pleasant hosts we´ve found. Even if we ask our kids "What was the best at Norway?" they name this cabin - especially the hammock and the swing in the living room and the motorboat. We appreciated the personal recommendations from Roy for discovering the area. We also loved the way the house is decorated with so much love and care on details. Our kids did not miss any second a TV or a tablet or anything else digital to play with....they never asked for. They loved to make fire at the chimney and oven. They carved wood, played board games, rescued 2 little birds, drove bicycle, collected blueberries and wild strawberries. We went out for fishing and hiking....it was like adventure for beginners ;o)! We came back to the roots and we all enjoyed the time being together in a much more intense and special way. Thank you so much for giving these special cabin for rent and sharing this way of life. We will recommend this lovely place and if possible we would like to come back once. Greetings from Germany! Summary: Charming property, can see it is used as a family home so lovely touches to all the furnishings - try the indoor swing and hammock. Berit and Roy were lovely hosts, friendly and helpful from when we arrived to leaving. We used the rowing boat to fish on the lake by the cottage and Roy also took us to another lake and showed us how to use a little motor boat. Caught no fish but we enjoyed just pottering on the water just taking in the scenery. Definitely a place to stay to unwind. Weather wasn't great while we were there but it was nice to sit by the wood burning stove in the evening and just read for a change without the temptations of TV or internet. Fun to manage without the basics like no running water, but otherwise was fully furnished with all you need to self-cater. Was a lovely place to stay to start off our holiday in a relaxing way. Would definitely recommend a stay to experience something different, but agree you do need a car to explore the area.

Summary: we can defintely recommend this stay, if you search for rest and "slow-it-down" in your vacation! we had wounderful 11 days in this cosy and charming cabin, which has everything you need, if you're satisfied with the basics and are able to give up the everyday luxury you're used to. This trip was an real excperience for all of us, showed us, what is really needed and made us forget the rest of the world for almost two weeks. The cabin itself is so beautiful and decorated with so much love, you feel home right with the first step you take in. Everything was well prepared for us and the host welcomed us freindly, showig us everything. They were available for us during the whole stay, answering questions, giving advice or giving nice tips for great trips, which will not be forgotten. Norway and it's breathtaking nature is all around the cabin and there is so much to see and experience. waterfalls, fjords, mountains and forests were all close and ready to be seen. we can totally recommend this stay for everyone who wants to relax and escape from the everyday stress, experience nature in its most beautiful. one advice: you definetly need a car if you want to see more of norway and all its attractions. calm down and feel home in this lovely place in the middle of nowhere!
