It is very quiet, and has an air of remoteness, which belies its proximity to London, an hour and a quarter away. The climate is generally dry and bright, with wide open skies and the special light quality which has made it a favourite for painters from Constable onwards. Wheatsheaf Barn is situated in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the site of Special Scientific Interest.
The house is, and feels, very spacious (c 3,500 square feet) with plenty of room for friends and family to be together in the large open plan downstairs room or separate on the balcony (with its view towards the river and wonderful sunsets) or in the downstairs bay. It can sleep eight comfortably, with a useful downstairs bedroom and shower room, and further sofabeds available for shorter term use. The kitchen is well equipped and easy for several people to cook together and the dining table accommodates up to twelve.
