Positive: We searched for an accommodation near the airport of PE and found Whistlewood Guest House. It's a pity we only stayed for one night. The communication before arrival was uncomplicated and we had the warmest welcome upon arrival. The house is absolutely stunning and the rooms spacious and comfortable with beautiful high ceilings. There is a common kitchen where you can serve yourself a breakfast and a living room with a fireplace. You can literally "make yourself at home" here and feel at home away from home. Next time, we will stay longer and take time to explore the area!
Negative: The mattresses were quite hard, but also that is a very personal thing. Some like it, some don't. After all, it couldn't spoil my stay nor my sleep!

Positive: There is just só much to absolutely love about Whistlewood. The location is perfect. Jane certainly has made this ‘home away from home’ wonderfully comfortable and welcoming. Her attention to detail is what makes the difference. The little touches that make Whistlewood special. The welcoming, farm style kitchen is the perfect place to help oneself to an assortment of delicious fresh goodies which we enjoyed on the verandah since it was a beautiful sunny morning. If it’s a little chilly, breakfast in the dining room is great. Beside the sparkling pool is the perfect spot to relax on a warm day. There is a magnificent fireplace in the sitting room making it a wonderfully cosy place to enjoy one’s book with a steaming cup of coffee. Talking about hot beverages, Jane has a fantastic selection of coffees and teas for every taste. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. Our bathroom was very spacious and the shower lovely and hot. Whistlewood grounds have been thoughtfully planned and lovingly maintained and as a result, the garden is a beautiful, peaceful experience. What a little gem. I highly recommend guests to choose Whistlewood for an exceptional experience.
Summary: Whistlewood is a real treasure where we enjoyed an exceptionally comfortable stay.

Positive: Very friendly and helpful owner. The property is lovely, an old farm house building that has been tastefully renovated. The room is a very nice size, with high ceilings and wooden floors. Very warm, with an electric blanket on the bed and a gas heater for use. The room and bathroom were very clean. The facilities were great with an outdoor pool, covered patio area with braai, and self serve honesty bar. Also, the attention to detail was fantastic with a guide book for the property and even colour-code keys for different doors! We felt very secure with the large fence around the lovely garden as well as parking on site right next to the building. We are vegan, and Jane provided some lovely vegan things for us for breakfast which was spectacular. A self serve breakfast in the lovely kitchen with a very well stocked fridge, cupboard, and bread bin so lots of choice and great kitchen facilities to use. Walmer is a nice neighbourhood with restaurants close by which are safe to walk to at night. And Walmer is only a short drive from Summerstrand and the rest of Port Elizabeth. The owner also provides lots of pamphlets and books with things to do in Port Elizabeth. Overall a great stay and would definitely recommend this property.

Positive: Everything. The house was charming, and kitchen was so stocked up and the rooms were comfortable and had all the amenities and the garden and pool are lovely too. It is a 5 minute drive from the PE airport and is super safe. But really the highlight was interacting with Jane , the owner and her husband, Pierre. The conversation was wonderful, especially for international visitors trying to understand South Africa a bit better. Jane’s entire corporate career in the hospitality sector meant that she anticipated any possible question.
Negative: Nothing… probably that we stayed only 1 day. We should have stayed at last another day in Jane’s house !!
