Positive: Fantastic cottage. Very easy to organise and straightforward to collect keys on arrival. Very well appointed and fitted out accommodation. Lesbury is a lovely village, close to Alnwick and Alnmouth and lots of other interesting places to visit

Negative: Could have benefited from a drainer on the draining board but a very minor point

Positive: The cottage is in a small row set back behind the main road. The house is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Although terraced, the stone walls are thick, and we didn't hear any noise from the neighbours, or passing traffic. The village shop is nearby. The location of the cottage was a mile from Alnmouth and close to Alnwick. There are lots of long sandy beaches within easy reach and castles and stately homes. The train station is a five-minute drive away. The cottage is much larger on the inside than the pictures can show. There is a useful porch inside the entrance, with coat hooks and a shoe rack. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped with a full cooker, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, clothes airer etc. The two bedrooms are of a good size and include wooden slatted shutters to the windows. The beds were comfortable and had quality linen on them. The bathroom is a good size and has a deep bath with a shower over it. There is a small enclosed patio at the back which was useful for the dog to explore.

Negative: Just a few small things, meant as constructive feedback, and not as complaints, as we really did enjoy our stay in Willow Cottage. On arrival, there were clippings from a small dog's white claws on the carpet in the double bedroom and also at the bottom of the stairs. The front door didn't latch and shut properly unless you kept it locked. The information book could have been a little fuller. There was a link to (I'm guessing) information pages via websites or Google, but this assumes everyone has a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with them. The information about bin collection was not clear. Where we live, we have a different colour bin system, where glass and cardboard are put together into a blue topped bin, garden waste into a green bin, and domestic rubbish into a black bin. Some of the neighbours had brown bins (new to us) for domestic rubbish, but the cottage didn't have one. There was a bottle bin and a blue bin that said recycling, but we had the impression (from the black rubbish bins already inside it) that we should use that for anything non-recyclable. It was confusing. I was a bit concerned, as when we stay in Wales, if you don't follow the local rules, the owners of the holiday home can receive a fine.
