If you are looking for an awesome getaway, Windmill Acres is your destination. You have your own private cottage with a shared pool right outside your door!
** We maintain at least 24 hours between the end of one booking and the start of the next to allow for proper cleaning. **
Horsing Around at Windmill Acres? That's right, bring your horse and horse trailer. The Florida Green-way is directly behind, with gated access to hundreds of acres of trails.
Outdoor activities nearby are Rainbow Springs, boating, tubing, antique shops in a quaint town. Super relaxing laid back weekend. Located in Dunnellon Florida.
We are about 7 miles from the Rainbow river access point (Hwy 484 and the river). You can rent Tubes or Kayaks at Aquatic Wilderness Adventures or the KP Hole, County park.
The State Park is just North of the KP Hole county park. You can rent kayaks or tubes at the KP Hole as well.
Right on the river is Swampy's Bar and Grill. A great place to eat and relax.
The KP Hole offers the same rental and pick-up services.
The Rainbow River State Park is just a mile or so North of the KP Hole.
You CAN swim with the Manatees in Crystal River.
We are 40-45 minuets from Crystal River. We have had a number of guest that came to swim with the manatees. One couple from Austria.

For stays over two weeks we offer and require a mid term cleaning. Every 14 days we will, at our expense, perform a general housecleaning of the property. We will schedule this with our guest prior to our mid term cleaning.

Summary: This cottage was perfect for our brief getaway. It is conveniently located between Ocala and Dunnellon for our Rainbow River and Silver Springs excursions, and close to plenty of restaurants just minutes away. The pool was quite refreshing and your hospitality was greatly appreciated. Pebbles was a great fur baby to have around when we were missing our own puppy. We will definitely see if this cottage is available the next time we’re up this way. Take care.

Summary: The owners greeted us and were very cordial. The property is rural and private, but the camper shares a deck with the owners' home, with the pool between. Weather and that proximity kept us from using the pool. The AC worked well but loudly. Not a kitchen for cooking with only micro-fridge. Worst part was the instant migraine from excessive air freshener used and kept in this unit. We had to place it outside during the stay and air out the place immediately. The facilities are aged but maintained. Other rental units placed nearby, making the location seem less private than I hoped for a romantic weekend. I won't return but others may find it quaint.
