In addition to a café, small store, tavern, and takeout spot, the village also has everything else you need for a self-catered stay. The Pitmedden Garden, maintained by the National Trust for Scotland, is the town's most famous landmark. It features five miles of perfect boxwood hedges planted in creative patterns, as well as 80 different species of apple trees and stunning fountains. While just twenty miles away you can visit the enchanted castle of Fyvie Castle, another National Trust for Scotland site, where you can have a tour of the sumptuous rooms and hear of the folklore and even ghost stories that continue on today at the Museum of Farming Life. Nearby, in the old village of Tarves, which was probably established about the year 600 AD, you'll find a typical butcher shop where you can stock up on fresh, regional meats for your self-catered meals. Summary: We had a lovely weekend at this beautiful house. It's furnishings are quality and the layout is perfect for a group to chill out and catch up. The open plan living area is ideal for socialising and the cosy living room perfect for the evenings. The hot tub is perfectly secluded and sheltered. There are plenty takeaway options with lots of lovely eating options too, we enjoyed a lovely walk at a nearby nature reserve and a meal out @ Udny Arms in Newburgh. The owners are so responsive with anything required and this is the second time we have stayed here with our next year booked again! Looking forward to returning in 2026!

Summary: Lovely house....lovely little welcome basket left for when you arrive. Such a nice touch ,great beaches and walking for our pugs. The weather was good for the end of september and we where able to get out walking daily ...My son and his girlfriend went to Aberdeen city centre shopping and got the local bus roughly 40 mins ,it was a quick service. Went to BrewDog for food and some drinks ,the local taxi was £40 to get there and back which we thought quite expensive,the woods across from the Croft is a lovely walk just after dinner with the dogs. My kids loved the hot tub and lots of boards games to keep them entertained. There was only one downside for us and it was the beds ,they didnt seem too comfortable ,but i suppose eveyone is different to what they like....maby a mattress topper if and when required for guests.....the master bedroom would benefit from a t.v just to help unwind before bed,again this is a personal opinion. Would highly recommned the Croft and anyone thinking of visiting for a holiday its a little hidden gem just off the country road. Would definetley book again for a family break.
