Positive: The house was beautiful and everything was immaculately clean. The house has been finished beautifully and all the furniture is lovely and comfortable, as are the beds. We requested a baby high chair and that was ready for our arrival, as well as many soft toys for the kids to play with. The house is enormous and has such thick walls and doors that you couldn’t hear the other people staying with you, never mind the adjoining neighbours. The grounds are massive too which was great as we had a dog that we could let run about. The key collection was simple and the host and house manager were accessible to contact at any time.
Negative: The listing says that there is a pool table, but it is a tiny tabletop one that is about 1.5ft long, so that was a disappointment. The windows in the living room looked tired and needing replacing, but I believe they are getting replaced in Nov 2024, so that should not be an issue going forward.

Positive: The furniture and period features are lovely, especially the stained glass windows at the top of the imposing staircase. Upstairs cleanliness was very good as were the bathroom/shower rooms. All the bedrooms were very comfortable. The hallway downstairs doubles as a sitting room with games perhaps more suited to children. Lovely aspect in the lounge and the cabinets in the kitchen/dining room are impressive.
Negative: Unfortunately renovations were in progress and there was no central heating which we were only informed about when I telephoned 48 hours prior to arrival. An oil fired radiator was supplied for the kitchen and a 2 bar electric fire in the lounge. These were not really sufficient for the size of rooms. We bought 3 bags of logs for the fire in the kitchen which helped but the log burner in the hallway was non operational. A couple of other faults have been conveyed to the owner and I hope these will be addressed prior to more guests arriving.
Summary: When heating upgraded and general downstairs cleanliness improved this will be ideal holiday stay.
