Positive: My favorite part about my stay at Yakunoyado Taguchi were the hosts, Shigeru & Hitomi. They are a lovely couple that made me feel so welcome and helped me figure out how to get around the island, as I didn’t have a car. The accommodation is located about 25 min by foot from Miyanoura town, which is absolutely doable, though the last stretch back to the property is dark walking back at night. I do recommend getting a car if you’re planning on going to Yakushima, as buses run very infrequently and the timings aren’t ideal. The rooms were clean and spacious and the shared shower and bathroom facilities very well kept and clean. The common area is available from 7am to 9pm. Even if you don’t opt for included meals, there is a fridge to store your own food and you can use their tableware to eat your meals in the dining area.

Negative: The rooms aren’t very soundproof, so you do hear when someone uses the washroom at night.

Positive: Our hosts were so friendly and helpful. They helped us navigate the island, gave us tips for what to do, picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, and made a delicious breakfast. The room was perfect and very clean. I will definitely be back when I'm next in yakushima.

Positive: Very sweet and helpful owners. We got shuttle service to the speed boat pier and the lady of the house provided us with the best tips for food and activities to make the most of our short stay. We would definitely love to come back someday and spend a few more days.

Positive: Absolutely fantastic stay here. Only wish I had booked more nights. Immaculately clean and well looked after by the friendly and helpful owners. A short walk from the ferry terminal but they will pick you up and drop you off if needed. I also wish I'd booked to have food with them as Hitomi's kitchen looked super professional! (Although there are many good options in town). Highly recommended and will definitely stay here again when I get a chance to return to Yakushima.

Positive: We stayed here for 2 nights in April 2024. The hosts, Shigeru-san and Hitomi-san, were very friendly. They offer free pick-up from/to the airport. We had breakfast and dinner here and the meals were delicious. Our room was very cozy and the shared facilites were clean.

Negative: They have a cat but we didn't get to meet him/her. Haha.
