Chanticleer is a one of a kind getaway on 135 acres of beautiful East Texas acreage. It is 3 1/2 hours from Houston, 2 hours from Dallas, and 1 hour from Tyler. Access includes great trails, wildlife, and a fully stocked lake with bass & catfish. The house is truly unique with 100+ years of family history. Enjoy the peace and quiet of a countryside getaway with the amenities of a modern-day property. Close to a local vineyard, peach orchard, and downtown Marshall, Longview & Jefferson, Texas. Animals are on the property but no hunting is allowed:)

Summary: This was just what we were looking for. A place to get away from everything. Quiet with just enough for us to do that we didn't get bored. Loved the trees, pond, mother nature. I just wish they had a queen or king bed in the master bedroom instead of having to push 2 twin framed beds together. But we loved it.....

Summary: Our family of 6 (with kids ranging from 4-16 yrs old) absolutely loved the experience of spending a few days on this property. We were hoping to find a place to just get away and enjoy being in nature and away from the distractions of life. This place definitely met those expectations! As we drove into the property, we immediately encountered the llama, exotic deer, and goats along the driveway. We then drove down the hill toward the home and were delighted by the view of the towering pine trees and beautiful large pond. Just hours after arriving, we had a rare close encounter with a large beaver while standing on the dock. Our whole family was so excited and it was one of our favorite memories! Our kids spend countless hours on the paddle boat just exploring the pond. We also took a few nice hikes around the property. The house was a throwback to the 1950s in every way! It felt just like my great grandparents home. We didn’t have any issues with this, but it’s definitely not a modern home. We felt like everything was clean and there were enough kitchen items to cook some meals there. The host was responsive to texts and they seemed very friendly. If you’re looking for a place to just unplug and enjoy nature around the property, we very much recommend this place!

Summary: We had a great time at this lake house. Did lots of fishing and boating. The highway is close but can't hear it from inside the house. The house could use a little updating but everything is there. It felt like a home, with old pictures and books. Wifi is spotty, but works for Netflix and streaming Music etc. even out on the dock. Will definitely be back !

Summary: Great cabin on a ranch, far away enough away from people to feel safe from covid. Cabin is just as described. My husband was excited because it reminded him of his grandparents home. The owner was a phone call away, snd was very helpful. Fishing was fun, fire pit with wood, just an all around relaxing long weekend. Definitely recommend, and will be back!

Summary: We had an amazing time. Beth was an absolute delight to communicate with. We probably had 100s of questions for Beth and she answered all of them promptly without any hesitations. The house is older - so if you like the olden charm then this is definitely the place for you. The lake behind the house was the highlight for us. We caught plenty of fish. The boats were real fun to go on and catch fish from. My only disappointment was the catfish that escaped my line (I'll be back for him haha). It was the perfect getaway during the Covid time. And what gave us additional comfort was there is a 3 day gap between each booking. That was very kind of the owners to do. My kids enjoyed the animals on the property too. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway look no further.
