Summary: Murat's apartment is beautifully decorated and the neighborhood is in a great location, close to so many bars, restaurants, and tourist attractions, yet tucked away for peace and quiet at the end of our long days out. We had a great time and felt safe everywhere. We especially loved watching the cats roaming around. Just as sweet and friendly as the Turkish people we encountered. :) The issue we had was the steep incline down to the apt which proved exhausting in the mid-summer heat, in addition to the fact that few to zero cabs pick up or drop off due to its location, despite being so close to the main pedestrian road Istiklal Street. But we were in great shape by the end! Make sure to ask for a fan and a/c unit to keep you cool if visiting in the summer. Murat provided it from the start and it greatly helped. Very much appreciated. Lastly, it's not a true 2 bedroom but rather there are 2 single-person daybeds available (1 upstairs outside the master bedroom, 1 downstairs in the living area next to the patio). Thank you Murat for this wonderful experience in your home!

Summary: Lovely two stories apartment (GF & above) with eclectic design and a nice terrace in a sideway alley just off Istiklal street. A lot of cats everywhere, also on the terrace (with some strong smells!) Communication with the host was great, he was very responsive. The window in the upper floor bedroom cannot be fully closed so the noise from the street can’t be avoided. Stairs between two floors have no fence, so we wouldn’t recommend this apartment to families with smaller kids. Otherwise, a very convenient and comfy place!

Summary: We booked this place on April 12, 2022 for 13 nights and a confirmation was promptly received and credit card charged. On June 14, 2022 we were contacted by the host who informed us that VRBO had made a mistake on the booking and that we were charged only one night for the third person in our party instead of a total of 13. A phone call to VRBO informed us that their policy on third/additional guests was either a flat charge OR a per night charge which was not stated clearly on the apartment website. There seemed to be a disconnect between the owner and VRBO and we were left to deal with the ambiguity. Considering that this was raised by the host after the June 11, 2022 deadline for a 100% refund, when we would only be entitled to a 50% refund, we felt we have no alternative but to pay the additional charges. In our view if there was a concern over the total charges for the accommodation they should have been raised by the host at the time of booking and not almost three months later after the deadline for a 100% refund had passed. We would suggest that if you have a third person staying with you that you confirm with the host at the time of booking on the final charges for the accommodation. It was an unpleasant surprise to have this raised by the host at such a late stage and only 23 days before we were due to leave for Turkey. With that being said, the location is ideal and the neighbourhood friendly. It is also quite hilly in and around the area so be prepared.

Summary: Staying in this stunning apartment and being welcomed and guided so expertly by our fabulous host, Murat, made our stay in Istanbul one we will always remember. The apartment is remarkable in its artistry, layout and furnishings, and the location is absolutely perfect for exploring both the European and Asian sides of the city. It's clean and well-equipped, and the outdoor spaces are a huge plus. All of Murat's recommendations were excellent. We miss him and the apartment already, and we can't wait to return! Book this immediately if you can!
