Bathroom: Bath, Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Electric air source heat pump with radiators, electricity, bed linen, towels and fibre-optic Wi-Fi included. Front lawned garden and back garden with two patios and garden furniture. BBQ (only available in summer). Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: Families, couples and holidaymakers only. No children under 10 years old.. The 17th-century smithy is situated in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the quiet hamlet of Bodsham on the Kent Downs. A rolling landscape of fields and woodlands surround the area.
The Smithy is within easy access of a network of footpaths and bridleways including the North Downs Way, allowing you to explore the area and the numerous pubs that are within walking distance. The owner has thoughtfully provided walking maps for local walks. The picturesque village of Wye (nearest shop) is 4 miles away, Canterbury 8 miles, Hythe (beach) 12 miles, Euro Tunnel 12 miles, Ashford 10 miles (with a high-speed train to London in 37 minutes).
Smithy, standing detached, is a comfortable, attractive, single-storey cottage, presented to a high standard with character retained outside and in. The Smithy has two patio gardens with flowerbeds, one ideally situated for sunrise and the other for sunset, both provided with garden furniture. A barbecue is provided in the summer months. To the south-facing front of The Smithy is an open lawn area. Off road private parking is provided for two cars. Beach 12 miles. Shop and restaurant 4 miles.

Summary: The Smithy was a lovely getaway from it all cottage but was also not far from the very historical Canterbury and the seaside of Hythe, Dymchurch etc. We enjoyed the property very much, it was immaculately clean and beautifully situated in a hamlet on the North Downs. Summary: A very comfortable cottage which is "away from it all". The countryside is lovely. The narrow lanes can be tricky if you meet a tractor. The local pub is not open every day and there is no shop, that I could find, nearby. The area is extremely interesting historically, with Dover, Hythe and Canterbury within easy reach. Summary: Lovely stay, very relaxing, comfy sofa and bed, nearby pub is great and very friendly although limited opening hours, lots of walks and very generous welcome basket and homemade jam. Just what we wanted :)

Summary: The cottage certainly enhanced our visit to the area, but it was a shame that a) the weather did not help and b) we had to cut short our visit. The cottage was enjoyable, comfortable, well equipped (although we did not use all of it and had meals out)
