Positive: The owners were very nice and helpful during our stay and since they lived on the property as well, it was usually easy to reach someone in case we had a question or needed help. The apartment was clean and cozy, the TV came with Netflix, prime and other apps. The heating worked well and there's lots of kitchen utensils for cooking your own meals. There's a stove, an oven, a microwave, a water kettle, a toaster and a fridge. All worked fine. Also the bathroom was equipped with samples of shower gel etc and there were plenty of towels provided plus a hair blow dryer and even straighteners. The apartment had a washing machine, a clothing iron and an ironing board. So overall it's really nicely equipped. The area is very remote and quiet, the village is serene. The garden/yard in the front is lovely. Plus we were given a welcome basket with Scottish snacks.
Negative: Sadly the WiFi was just awful. It only worked in the living room. There was no reception in any of the other rooms. Also the connection was very weak and unstable and kept disconnecting a lot. So for those who need WiFi for work etc, the location might pose an issue. Also there is only one bus driving through the village and if you want to explore the area, you really need to get there by car. There is nothing much to do if you are on foot. We were hoping to go on long walks and even reach the coast, but there are no trails for pedestrians, just the big road for vehicles and other than that you'd have to directly walk through the fields and I'm not sure if the farmers would like that. (And due to this being a farmer's area, you'll have the occasional smell of cow dung in the air.) The equipment in the kitchen is a bit outdated, especially the pans, which are difficult to cook in because everything will stick and burn. You might wanna bring your own. The bed was much smaller than it looked on the pictures and the mattress, albeit somewhat comfy, was very bouncy, so everytime the other person turns, the whole bed just shakes and wobbles and bounces. Also I did ask if it was possible to get a 2nd blanket the day before our arrival because I saw on the pictures that there's only one blanket on the bed, so I wanted to make sure if that's the standard. The owners messaged me back, saying there is only one blanket and it's too late now to get an additional blanket. Which I found very weird, considering they live on the same property. But so I had to take a blanket with me on my travels - which ate up half the space in my suitcase. That was obviously annoying, considering we arrived by public transport. If you go by car, then this won't pose a problem, I guess. But yeah - definitely bring a second blanket if you don't plan on sleeping like sardines or if your partner/friend tends to steal the blanket at night.
Summary: Lovely host, cute apartment with lots of extras but bad WiFi

Positive: Great central location for visiting the South Scotland and Cumbria. Shops and supermarkets within a short drive. Plenty to see and do - we had a packed week.
Negative: Observation, not criticism as I do not normally cook - perhaps a frying pan upgrade. :-)

Positive: Great location for our visit to the area. Very well provisioned with full amenities in the apartment. The conversion of the old church has been very tastefully done to retain the external character while accomplishing the 3 apartment internal construction. Thanks George for making our visit very comfortable.
Negative: Although not a negative, the water pressure could do with being boosted, it is fairly low in the shower. Only other comment is that the vehicle exit can be a little daunting with the hedge being so far out as it is difficult to see oncoming traffic without sticking your nose out into the lanes.
Summary: Excellent apartment location with a knowledgeable owner on site.
