Summary: Great spot by the river, big yard, perfect for fishing and floating. No air conditioning, so consider that in the summer. And if a light sleeper, be aware there are frequent trains on both sides of the cabin.

Summary: We had an enjoyable stay at the 'Cabin on the New River'. Our son graduated from VT on the weekend we stayed - and due to this - we spent most of the time in Blacksburg - coming to the cabin in the evening and enjoying the early mornings during our stay. Despite a rainy weekend, the cabin was a nice 'retreat' for us. It was beautiful property, with luscious green grass and the NEW RIVER just feet away. We would have loved to spend more time than we were able. The early mornings on the deck were refreshing. Only thing to be aware of is that the area of land that the cabin and other homes are situated on is sandwiched between an east and west bound train -- one on each side of the property. It didn't bother us -- but the train and whistle came through on a determined schedule. For future renters, be sure to bring fishing gear, tubes, kayaks, etc... to enjoy the river!
