Hokie football is just around the corner- last minute weekend fishing, tubing & golf getaway dates are still available. Enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunsets along the banks of the New River. Cool off in here flowing waters and catch some great fighting smallmouth bass while wading or fishing from your Kayak .Play a round of golf at the Pete Dye River course.
Back to school season is near, come create lasting memories and explore all that the New River Valley has to offer—you might just discover a place you never want to leave.
A stackable washer/dryer is located in the closet between the dining area and the bathroom.
The main floor bedroom has a great view of the river, plush memory foam bedding and smart TV for your enjoyment.
The upstairs bedrooms are an open concept cape cod style. One side featuring a Serta perfect sleep queen bed and the other side has a reading nook and double twin beds with one rolling under the other.
NOTE:
-There is a train behind the home that passes intermittently. The topography helps shield the house from the noise, but white noise machines are also provided for your comfort and convenience.
The back deck has a comfy cushioned porch swing and is great for train watching or just relaxing
A short walk across the road is a seating area and firepit beside the river. A long open lawn is great for family games, Horseshoes, soccer or frisbee Perfect for sunsets, stargazing and night fishing.
All area of the house are open to guests use. Including the 700 feet of the river where guests can fish, wade and explore all our beautiful New River has to offer.
The River House of Parrott is on a low traffic, paved road perfect for nice leisurely bike rides or jogging. We are located just 25 minutes from Virginia Tech, 15 minutes to Radford University, and 25 minutes to Claytor Lake state park! Shopping and dining are located 10-15 minutes away for your convenience.
Whether you are a fisherman looking to spend a week fishing with some buddies or a football fan wanting a relaxing space to see the Hokies play, this is a great out of the way yet convenient location.
Pete Dye River Golf Course of Virginia Tech and Huckleberry Trailhead are worth checking out if you want something else to do. Other area attractions are NRV Superbowl,(Bowling Center) New River Junction < ( Tubing adventures), NewRiverOutdoorCo.com ( Guide service) as well as the Cascades nature trail in the Jefferson National forest near Pembroke VA. Va. (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/cascades-falls-trail)
Shopping and restaurants are a short 8-10 minutes drive away.
Cell service is very limited in this area. WIFI calling will be your best bet. We do have a VOIP land line available.
-Pets are allowed but a require an additional pet fee of $100.00 per dog per stay. 2 dogs = $200.00 Please add your pet when booking or let host know so fee can be added.
Max 2 dogs under 25 Lbs.
-Wi-Fi and house phone provided. Cellphone service in the area is limited but can send out messages and make calls over the Wi-Fi.
-We have 3 security cameras on site. One on front porch, one pointed at driveway and the 3rd at the side yard to help protect our home and property when we are not there.

Summary: This was a family trip to visit family nearby. We stayed 2 nights, it was so relaxing. Sitting on the porch enjoying the river was our favorite part. The home was very clean and the hosts made everything so simple for check in and check out. I would stay here again when going to the area. Very easily slept 5, back yard was fully fenced for the kids, on a quiet country road.

Summary: The house was immaculate and everything we needed and that was advertised. Proximity to the river is great. It is not too far from VA Tech and there is a WalMart, etc. minutes away for groceries, etc. The hosts were highly responsive and very helpful.

Summary: We enjoyed the house and really appreciated the responsiveness of the host. While the location is between a small road and train tracks, it wasn’t overly distracting or loud. The access to the water was unobstructed and relaxing. The master bed was probably the most comfortable that I’ve ever slept in away from home, with quality bedding and mattress. The property was also great for our dog, with a contained back yard and front porch. Definitely recommend!

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay at the River House of Parrott. The view was beautiful and I feel confident that someone better than I at fishing would have great luck where it's located on the river. The train comes by pretty frequently during the day but infrequently at night. It took a night to get used to, but the provided white noise machines in the bedroom made a huge difference. There was more road traffic than we expected, but we were also there over a weekend. Overall, we had a really great, relaxing time and would happily stay again.

Summary: Description of the place was accurate including location details, surroundings and trains. River is about 20 yards from the house, serene ambiance, quiet relaxing sound. Train watching was enjoyable experience and, on positive side, the trains didn't run at night (or so I think). To make it clear, watching trains wasn't a distant watching, trains run about 10-15 yards from the house. However, it didn't bother us at all to our surprise. Other things we liked is meticulously fenced backyard, that would keep pet rats (if someone has them) inside the perimeter. The house is very clean, all linens were proper, all kitchen utensils where very adequate. All appliances were functional and in great shape. Minor points include lack of exhaust fan in the single bathroom and no ores were found for the advertised kayaks. Other than that - great place. We visited our daughter at VT and would rent this place in the future.

Summary: Comfy and cozy home overlooking new river just a half hour from VA Tech. The place was clean and everything was labeled for easy use. While you can hear the trains on the track go by, I found it relaxing like white noise. We came here for a football game, but I would stay here again during warm weather to enjoy the river. The host was very responsive

Summary: Lovely peaceful spot along the New River. Had two dogs with us so took advantage of gate on the porch and fenced backyard. Porch was a great spot for watching herons, deer, ospreys, and eagles. Convenient to hiking, Radford, and Va Tech (and for morning coffee). Owners were very responsive to any Qs we had.
