Ngunguru Ford Lodge is a boutique getaway, nestled in the bush, off the beaten track for the ultimate relaxing break. We are a quintessential holiday home situated in a rural setting, surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful bush. Full of country garden charm you can enjoy fresh, home made produce and re-connect with nature in this modern, refurbished Lodge.
Set in 35 acres of land you can enjoy a home away from home feel, with veggie patches, farm animals, bush walks, duck ponds and much more.
The newly renovated Lodge consists of open plan dining and living which flows out onto a deck area, and being north facing gets plenty of sunshine. Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and a second toilet mean you can be completely self sufficient.
Stay and relax or venture further afield to Ngunguru Estuary and beach - 20 mins away or visit the stunning Tutukaka coastline - 30 mins away. Tutukaka (the second most beautiful coastline in the WORLD as voted by the National Geographic Traveler!) features some of the most stunning beaches and bays in the North, safe for swimming with fantastic fishing, diving, surfing and spectacular coastal walks. At the marina you can charter a fishing trip or take a dive trip to the Poor Knights Marine reserve (Jacques Cousteau rated the area as one of the top ten dives in the world).
Ngunguru Ford Lodge does have a few friendly animals on site including ducks, chickens, cows, pigs and a dog. These animals all enjoy their tranquil surroundings and are good tempered, however if you are worried about the livestock please note that the paddocks are all fully fenced so you will only meet the cows, chickens and pigs if you want to.
We have an established orchard and veggie garden and fresh free range chicken eggs.
One of the other wonders of the countryside is the lack of light pollution, allowing for some truly magnificent skylines and awesome stargazing.

Summary: Would definitely recommend. Small but very nice 👍 Close to some great beaches including Whale Bay and Matapouri and not too far from Whangarei. Property was small but nice, ideal for a couple or small family with children on couches or blow up beds in the living room.

Summary: This place is magical. The hosts are very friendly. They provided homemade bread, butter and jam which was heavenly. We really enjoyed walking through their farm!! Highly recommend this place.

Summary: The property was even better than we had anticipated. It was definitely much roomier than anticipated, and had everything we needed. Small touches like the softness of the bath mats were appreciated. Arriving down the gravel road - past the possums - felt as if you really were in the wop-wops, but despite that you are still close to Whangarei and the Tutukaka Coast. The stars on our first night were breathtaking. A bit less light pollution than Auckland.

Summary: The property has recently been done up with everything looking bright & fresh. The welcome basket is a lovely touch with a delicious jam. The property is right next door to the owner's house and the living area looks directly onto the shared lawn. This wasn't an issue but it is good to note for anyone who values their privacy as it's not obvious from the photos :)
