Located within the walls of the medieval village of Domme, this restored stone cottage offers charming and comfortable accommodation for a couple or small family.
It has a master bedroom, a small bedroom, a bathroom, a large open kitchen and dining room, and an elegant and cozy living room. It also has a secluded garden with table and chairs to have lunch under the palm tree whilst enjoying the expansive views over the fortified village walls.
The house is in a quiet street but only 3 minutes walk from the shops, bars and restaurants of the bastide village.
La Petite Bergerie was featured in the Travel section of the UK Sunday Times as one of the 12 most romantic places to stay in Europe.
The front door opens into an open plan kitchen and dining area. The solid wood kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and fridge-freezer. There is also a large cast iron wood burner for the colder evenings in the low and mid season.
Adjacent is a cozy and bright living room with a sofa, two armchairs, a coffee table and a large collection of Dutch, English and French books.
It has patio doors leading to the enclosed terras and the stone steps leading to the secluded garden. This staircase can be closed with littel gates at the bottom of the terrace and at the top of the sun garden. For de securtie of the children.
From the dining room an oak spiral staircase leads upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom. The comfortably elegant master bedroom at the rear of the house, with views over the valley from the dormer window, has a double bed and plenty of storage space under the eaves. This room has air conditioning.
The light and airy bathroom overlooks the reinforced walls and has a bath, washbasin and toilet.
The small bedroom at the front of the house, with exposed wooden beams, has a double bed and can comfortably accommodate one or two people.
The house has been restored using traditional and ecological materials, including lime plaster, hemp insulation, natural paints and wood treatments and organics. It has been redecorated with a keen eye for detail whilst retaining many of the original features including exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There are also solid wooden floors throughout. Beware of the low ceilings and doors .
The house is equipped with a washing machine, ironing board and iron.
Outside there is a fenced sunny terrace ideal for storing your bicycle.
The small stone staircase leads to a pleasantly planted garden with a small swimming pool of 4m by 2m and a depth of 60 cm.
The garden offers shady and sunny areas to sit, relax and enjoy the view.
Within 100 meters of the house there is a parking space for residents only, you will receive the corresponding access card for free parking. Parking in front of the door is only for loading/unloading.

Summary: The cottage was clean and very well equipped. We felt comfortable and enjoyed our stay in Domme. The cottage is in a beautiful area and there were plenty of restaurants to enjoy within walking distance.

Summary: Domme is a fantastic town to base yourself to explore the walled city and surrounding towns. The house is very cute and a good size for 3 or 4 people. Two bedrooms located upstairs with the bathroom, the spiral stairs are a little creaky along with some of the floor boards but not a major issue for us. The main bedroom does have a humming/machine noise coming from a cupboard that we couldn’t work out what it was for, so if you’re a light sleeper may be an issue. Otherwise, the area is whisper quiet and very relaxing. The lounge room was lovely to relax in after a day of exploring. It seemed we may have been the first guests in some time. Only recommendation would be to supply some washing up liquids and a drying rack, if they were there we didn’t find them.

Summary: Excellent communication with host who was on hand to assist with any problems. Character property fully equipped for needs and very comfortable. Would mention pool a little restrictive for swimming but wonderful for cooling off when hot. BBQ area accessed by steep stone steps but a lovely addition and well used during our stay. Would certainly stay again.

Summary: We loved this place! There are many original elements that make this place very unique. You can sit on the rocking chair and enjoy the warthm of the fire place in the kitchen. There is a nice selection of books and some board games as well. Here you have all you need to disconnect from the day-to-day life and focus on enjoying the surroundings and slow down. Domme is really worth visiting and La Bergerie the place to stay. We thank Stef and Anne for their hospitality. We will be certainly coming back to your place as soon as we can.

Summary: The house looks cute but is way too small to be comfortable. It is not possible to walk straight up the circular stairs, you have to dug your head to get through the door of the main bedroom, and it is not possible to walk alongside the bed and get in without hitting your head at the roof beams. We left early and while the owner agreed to some refund, after three weeks and several attempts to communicate with the owner to resolve this, he argued that our complaints were not reasonable, and that we just did not appreciate the coziness of the house. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Summary: We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful house, right within the bastide of Domme! The hosts are both exceptionally friendly and helped to make our family feel at home. Our standards are very high on how clean the place is, especially given we have a small baby, but the place was spotless! Nothing to remark! Very cosy house, nice garden, well equipped and maintained. Thank you for this lovely stay, we will definitely come again and we will recommend to others for sure!
