Antigua is an unforgettable destination, full of natural beauty, history and culture. This wonderful little city offers its visitors a memorable experience. Casa Maya-Antigua provides the comfort of a home away from home. A magical Hacienda style retreat, this amazing villa offers a rejuvenating natural environment and first world comfort and sophistication.
In 2006 our family built Casa Maya-Antigua as a second home; as well as a place to welcome travelers from around the world. Our overall goal was to combine the local Spanish-Colonial architectural style with the best modern conveniences , functionality and light. The end result is a house which very harmoniusly fuses the best elements of an Antigua style traditional home with modern Mediterranean architectural elements. Additionally, the house was designed to make the garden and it's water features (the lap pool and the jacuzzi) central key elements of this living environment. The living-dining room space opens into the lovingly maintained garden through a large set of folding doors, bringing the exterior and the interior spaces together. Imaging seeing the Volcan De Agua in the background, framed by the folding doors - simply Spectacular!!!
Unlike traditional Antigua houses, this house offers expansive window systems which floods the interior spaces with natural light. Combined with the open corridor (which runs the length of all of the rooms), these large glass doors bring the beautiful shapes and colors of the adjacent garden areas into the interior spaces - blurring the line between the inside and the outside areas.
Be our guest and come experience nature, comfort tranquility and modernity. This stunning house offers a unique environment for an unforgettable vacation. Enjoy the lap pool, jacuzzi, lush gardens and terrace views of the surrounding volcanoes and the sloping greenbelt hills. Our property is just minutes away by car to the center of town. The perfect spot for enjoying the city of La Antigua and its surrounding 'Aldeas' (villages), without having to be too close to the noise of the surrounding streets.
The house is located inside a gated community with 24/7 security. Inside the community there are about 50 other houses, most of which feature beautifully kept gardens and a variety of nice architectural features. Walks around the wide cobble streets and the flat sidewalks (over 1-1/2 km loop) are a popular activity with home owners and guests alike. Another nice community feature are the communal gardens with ample sitting areas and water fountains.

Summary: We loved this place! Are you kidding, it was incredible. We had two families and a total of nine people. There was plenty of room. We having breakfast in the house then exploring all day then coming back to dinner in the evening. The kids loved the hot tub and pool and playing soccer on the grass. The outdoor spaces were plentiful and so authentic. We would go back in a heartbeat!!!

Summary: This is a beautiful colonial-style home in a quiet gated community, away from the traffic congestion in Antigua, and yet just a 10-minute drive or Uber ride from the Parque Central. The garden and pool are lovely — the bougainvillea and jacaranda were in bloom while we were there and birdsong filled the yard. There are several terraces with spectacular views of the volcanos. We especially enjoyed having our morning coffee overlooking the Volcan de Agua (an extinct volcano!) The villa is so spacious that we could always find a peaceful spot to read or take a nap. The house is beautifully decorated with Mayan textiles, pillows, artwork, hammocks and swings, but a few tweaks are needed to spruce up the kitchen and bathrooms to match the elegance of the house. The faucets/handles in the bathrooms and the kitchen sink are loose. The kitchen sink faucet needs to be replaced. Also the shower curtain in the master bathroom needs to be replaced. We cooked and barbecued quite a few meals but would have appreciated a better equipped kitchen with a frying pan in good condition, mixing bowls and some glass storage containers. On arrival we were welcomed by Alicia, the caretaker, and Rolando the gardener. Alicia was a terrific help to our family—the first couple of days we were without a car and she guided us to the nearby supermarket, a bakery where we could get a graduation cake for our daughter and a tortilla stand where we found the freshest tortillas that we’ve ever had!

Summary: Our family spent a wonderful week over the New Year's holiday at this beautiful and comfortable Villa. The landscaping is amazing, and the home has numerous rooms and outdoor areas conducive to relaxation and quiet contemplation. The community is gated and safe, an easy and quick 10 minute drive to the heart of Antigua, and the property caretakers were exceptionally kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Summary: My words cannot sufficiently describe the beauty, the tranquility and the fresh air that is breathed in the Mayan-Antigua house. My family of 7 members including me stayed in this house for this past Holy Week . We really enjoyed the jacuzzi, swimming pool and above all the beautiful gardens with beautiful tropical flowers including banana plants. The bedrooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed dinner in the main dining room with my family. Miss Alicia and Mr. Rolando were very attentive. I appreciate their quick response to our calls. Mr. Reynaldo, thank you very much for your help. Definitely will come back. This is a very secure and clean place to stay.

Summary: I particularly don't enjoy Guatemala city much because of traffic, that is why we rented outside the city. The home was everything and more of what we expected. It was beautiful, cozy, perfect weather, and let's not forget the hosts; they were super nice and helpful. If you want to enjoy your stay and relax away from the craziness of the city, I definitely recommend you stay at this home.

Summary: This is a beautiful home in a gated neighborhood with breathtaking views. The grounds are colorful with gorgeous flowers and foliage. We loved using the large hot tub and the pool. The home is nicely furnished with comfortable sofas in the family room and comfortable beds in each bedroom. It would have been helpful to have written instructions on how to use the appliances, the tv, turning on one of the showers was a little tricky. There is a property manager who is very helpful but having written info is important because you often don't know that you need instructions for something until you are ready to use it. Also, a few more bed pillows would have been nice. The dogs across the street barked for several hours a day, so if you are bothered by barking dogs, you should be aware of this. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home.
