The backyard firepit is sure to be a place where memories are made, roasting hotdogs, making smores, and catching up with those who mean the most.

Summary: The cabin was very nice. The add needs to be updated though. Add states there is shampoo and soap. There was no shampoo. Wifi password was not under the modem but in the book. And the dish washer was full of dishes did not know if they were clean or dirty. Was on a weekend get away and was not about to put dishes away.

Summary: I would have likely rated 6 stars if the weather had been nicer! ( I do know there are only 5 stars). It rained most of the week, but honestly we didn't care as its been so hot and dry here in Florida, it was kind of nice to have several rainy days. The front porch can't be beat. I imagine that the Summer and Fall are awesome as far as the lake is concerned. We didn't get to canoe or fish as it was too cold but the access to both, right through the woods and down the path, is excellent. Saw lots of nature ( 25+ deer the day we were leaving), many different birds, an otter, and heard the peeping frogs as well...something we miss in Florida. We hiked in the rain most days, and watched lots of movies most nights. Built a fire in the fireplace 3 nights but never did build one in the firepit due to the rain. Looked like a great spot for s'mores. Cottage is well equipped, cozy, just really perfect. We had everything we needed to cook a big Easter dinner. Another day we purchased fresh oysters in Oakland and feasted on those as well as great shrimp from the Arrow market in Deep Creek right down the road on Rte 219. Everything was very convenient. My husband and his brother golfed at Thousand Acres and Alpine Lake and mostly had the courses to themselves. All in all.........very, very nice.

Summary: This cabin was everything we needed it to be. It was far from the city (DC for us), and yet it wasn't old and musty like one's worst nightmares (and perhaps some experiences) might make us fear. For just my wife and I, we found this place to be very well cleaned, simple, but with everything we needed. This included cooking supplies, extra blankets, wood (though uncovered and outside which needed some drying-out), and windows enough in the large room that it felt spacious. We had a couple of things we needed to ask the owner about, and she was imminently reachable. The walk down to the lake (frozen while we were there) is a beautiful short walk to a beautiful location. It's about 15 minutes to the nearest town and grocery store, which had everything we needed (and even some extra things we wanted!). We are hoping ot go back, perhaps with another couple of friends this time.

Summary: Our pack is two adults, an 8 year old, and two dogs. We went to Maine Retreat for a getaway and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Very nice trail through the woods to an opening by the water, great cookout locale just behind the house, and a very cozy, attractive lay out inside. The house was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed communing with nature and drives in and around Deep Creek. Hosts could not have been more helpful. Thank you, hope to be back soon!

Summary: My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Maine Retreat! The house was so clean and cozy and foliage was spectacular! This was our first experience renting a home from VRBO. Summary: We had a great time at the cabin. Our toddler loved playing with all the yard games (cornhole, cricket, badminton, and more!) and our dog enjoyed exploring in the woods and lounging in the shady yard. It was short walk to down to the cove where we could fish and the dog could swim. We also enjoyed taking the canoe out. The cabin provided a perfect amount of quiet and solitude while still being close to all the activity of Deep Creek Lake. Great dining options are just a few minutes away. We rented a boat for the day from Bill's Marine and that was just about a 15 minute drive. The house itself was very clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. The fire pit and firewood were a nice touch. Our only complaint was that toilet paper and paper towels were not provided so we had to make a trip to the store for those. We had a small problem when we were not able to find the canoe at the location described to us in the manual from the owners. We called the owners and they were very responsive (on a Saturday) and got the property management company to handle the issue right away. (It turns out the property management company had put the canoe in a different location without the owners' knowledge.) We were very impressed with how quickly the owners resolved the problem. We had a great experience and would return!

Summary: We spent a relaxing week at the Maine Retreat with our 2 kids and big dog. We loved having the yard and the woods to walk through. Walking down to the lake was a daily tradition, and we saw a beaver a couple of times. We also enjoyed the canoe - very peaceful. We really enjoyed the recommendations listed in the binder in the house, especially the Fireside Deli. I unfortunately had to work one day, and the internet access was great. So, all in all, if you need some time away (but might not get it), the Maine Retreat is a great place to go!

Summary: After a busy wedding weekend, the Maine Retreat offered a relaxed environment to unwind and enjoy all that the Deep Creek area has to offer. Greg and Pia were extremely accomodating throughout the reservation process and happily answered a million of my questions prior to our visit. The description of the property is accurate. The Lake access is a short walk away and the house is tidy, well kept and has been updated nicely. The large front porch has very comfortable seating and was a great place to sit and have coffee in the morning while the fireplace in the living area served as a great ammenity during the colder evening hours. All in all, my wife and I enjoyed our stay greatly and will likely be coming back again!

Summary: My fiancée and I stayed at the cabin during a skiing trip to Wisp. The cabin was the perfect place to stay. It was very comfortable and very peaceful. The location was private enough where we felt we were away from it all, yet gave easy access to Wisp, grocery stores, and shopping. With all the outdoor activities in the area during the summer, we're hoping to go back very soon to spend some time on the lake and do some hiking. Thank you Pia and Greg for a much appreciated and enjoyed weekend at your cabin!

Summary: Secluded yet within a 10 minute drive to big box stores, "mom and pop shops" and restaurants. We arrived just in time for a beautiful "white christmas" The cabin is very well maintained and clean. We had a couple of minor issues upon check-in but the management company took care of it pretty quickly--- especially considering it was the sunday before christmas. We loved walking the trails behind the cabin with our dogs down to the lake. The only minor negative comment I can think of is ,that while the cabin is advertised as having internet--- you have to use an older pentium based laptop that is provided onsite-- it seemed to take a long time to view emails and web pages.. I think it would be very advantagious to just provide wireless internet with an access code for renters that would bring their own laptops. Other than that --our 1 week stay was very relaxing and a memorable family vacation! We are already thinking about possibly booking a week in the summer to take advantage of the activities around beautiful Deep Creek Lake !! Thanks-- Pia and Greg for opening up "The Maine Retreat" to us for the holidays!!
