Positive: A warm welcome and helpful friendly staff gave a great first impression. But nothing prepared me for the amazing view! Our room was beautiful, rustic, clean, with great facilities and a private terrace with incredible views. The service, food quality and variety were excellent. We were asked to order our meals in advance to prevent undue delays and it was always ready right on time and served with a smile. The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond, taking account of individual requests and preferences. The pool is a nice spot to cool off after a trek or safari. In the evening there is a fire pit where we enjoyed pre dinner drinks and chats with staff and other guests.
Negative: Nothing in particular. Older guests with mobility issues should be aware that some of the paths to the rooms are quite steep. The lodge is situated in a lovely, but quite remote, spot so food and beverage options may be limited to the hotel restaurant and the prices do reflect that…but the food quality and service do match with the prices. The pool needs some sunbeds and shades - but we were assured these were on the way!
Summary: A great 2 night stay in a magical location with good facilities and great service t

Positive: Akagera Rhino Lodge is a great place to stay near Akagera Park—only 15 minutes away by car. The room was very cosy, with an amazing view of the lake! The restaurant is nice, the food is good, and you can also order a picnic to take with you on safari in the park. The staff is really friendly and attentive. There's hot water in the shower, and the Wi-Fi is decent. I 100% recommend this place for its excellent value for money.
Negative: Nothing: it was perfect!

Positive: The rooms were comfortable, food was great, staff were friendly and helpful. View is absolutely wonderful. Wasn't able to use the pool but it looked great.
Negative: The curtains just barely covered the windows, I didn't feel like anyone could see in or anything, but I would have preferred a bit more curtain. A fan would have also been nice.
Summary: Beautiful View

Positive: The view is amazing, the room is big and comfortable, everything is clean, the food is good and the staff is nice. Be aware that the rooms are far from the restaurant, this could be a problem for someone with reduced mobility.
Negative: The checkout could be later.

Positive: Rhino Lodge is located with breathtaking views over Akagera and only a short drive from the main gate. The rooms are beautiful and everything is very well maintained. I have never experienced such exquisit staff & such a high attention to detail in the way they treat you and try to make your stay memorable. While you’re having dinner they prepare your room (turning on the exterior lights, drawing the curtains). One day when it rained heavily I found an umbrella ready at my doorstep so I wouldn’t get wet on my way to get breakfast. Everybody is always interested to have a short chat and they genuinely want you to feel good. All in all great hospitality! The food in the restaurant is also tasty, well made and very reasonably priced. You have to choose your breakfast, lunch & dinner options ahead of time but there’s no set time to take your meals - you can arrange for whichever time you like and the chefs will cook for you. You can also book all sort of activities (including game drives) with the reception.
Negative: I did get into a slight misunderstanding in terms of price rates by booking my game drive ahead of time, which was also partly my fault. They provided me with a great guide, Danny, who took me on a full day which was a really nice and memorable experience I highly recommend. I asked ahead of time and they said it‘s going to be 280$ for a car with driver/guide as well as the entrance fee for the vehicle. At the park reception I did have to pay an additional 100$ entrance fee as well as 10$ for the car, making the total cost rise up to 390$. It did come as some sort of a surprise since I didn’t do proper research and thought the 280$ would cover everything - apparently you pay entrance for the car (10$) as well as per person (100$) in addition to whatever driver/guide + vehicle cost you from the organisers (in my case 280$). Just be mindful and do your research when booking a game drive! I still feel like I paid double for the vehicle entrance though, which is a bummer. Also I think it would be much nicer to connect people and make it possible to share the ride & costs whenever possible. After all it doesn’t make much sense having cars with a single person going round if there’s available space elsewhere. I was solo which made it all the more expensive of course and my enquiries about whether other cars would go to the park were politely declined. Again, the staff at Rhino is not much to blame for these things, I do understand the business side of things and do not expect them to act in ways which potentially reduce revenue. I would just advise against booking ahead and trying to connect with others when you’re there. And inform yourself about all the rates ahead of time!
