Positive: How close to the station, beach and other interesting stores. The staff was nice and didn't charge us for the 30 minutes pass our checkout time. We enjoyed the view while eating in the dining room. They keep tea and water in the fridge for guests and hot water for tea or coffee...also rice if you get hungry. All this makes it a nice place to be for backpackers. It's important to remember that it is a guesthouse, self-service and it meet basic needs while traveling.

Positive: Breakfast is a little limited to only ochazuke with one egg and they are strict about having more rice. The bowls are big enough though. If you want a more varied breakfast, it is easy enough to buy something
Negative: In order to keep prices down, many things are at an extra cost, eg towels, yukata. If you are not well prepared for it, it can add up.

Positive: Located close to Atami Station but requires a bit of a climb to reach the guest house. The lobby looks a bit outdated but the room itself is comfortable.
Negative: There's an elevator but it doesn't seem like it could be used. The soundproofing is also not the greatest, as we can hear people exiting and entering the room. It's especially noisy when the room is right beside the washroom.

Negative: The Onsen is closed on Wednesday and it’s not on the reservation. I didn’t know until after checking in. It just so happened I was only there for a Wednesday night

Positive: Guesthouse Megumi is a very short walk from Ito Station, and commands beautiful views of the sea below. The shared bathrooms were clean and only shared one between two rooms. The common room had convenient amenities such as complementary tea and coffee, hot water, and crockery.
Negative: Though the hotel building has a good structure, it is old and has not been taken care of very well. The room was slightly musty and water stained, and the bed linen was not completely clean. And though it is understandable for a small hotel, the extremely limited onsen opening hours were an inconvenience. Furthermore, there is no elevator in the building, and the soundproofing is almost non-existent, which was an issue for us as a very large and noisy group were staying next door. We would definitely say it is not the best value -for-money accommodation we have found in this area.
Summary: No deal-breakers, but lots of small issues.
