Positive: It’s great to sleep in this authentic home in Toraja. Rotherham room basically just have a mattress but it’s very comfortable. You have a second big room, if you like to yoga and spread out your things. The toilette facilities are great and the surrounding area is very beautiful. The owner cooking treat dinner and breakfast 🙏🏽thank you so much!

Positive: Our stay at the accommodation was incredible. We had the opportunity to stay in a traditional house surrounded by stunning nature, a place nestled among rice fields. The place was super clean. Honestly, there weren’t any insects, in case anyone’s worried, and we didn’t even need a mosquito net. The shower/bathroom was great, and we had hot water. We had delicious breakfast and dinner at the place. The family who runs the accommodation is very kind, especially Jhon, who was also our guide and showed us every corner of Toraja, taking us to countless funeral ceremonies and other places of interest as if we were locals. It was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this place and hope to return.

Negative: Very basic facilities: scoop shower and no internet. Separate bathroom block. This is reasonable given the type of place, but people need to know this before booking.

Summary: Unique experience of staying in a traditional Toraja house. Very basic, but good value.

Positive: We loved EVERYTHING. An unique place to spend a Toraja experience in the typical houses of the area. The food they offered us was delicious. The best thing was the people who run it: they are lovely and offer you everything they have. We felt in love with the experience. We felt at home and they treated us as if we were their family.

Positive: Really an authentic homestay... And a very competent guide for everything!

Negative: But the bathroom is faaar away, and has really nothing, only a WC (no shower, not even a mirror!) Is a pitty, could be an excellent place to stay for longer...

Positive: I definitely recommend Jonny to be the guide to show you around the area. He can also act as driver at the same time which makes it more efficient and cost effective.. He can be reached at +62 821 8939 8099. The breakfast banana pancakes (included in the daily rates) and a nice dinner served for extra were delicious. The people working at the homestay don't speak English or very little , however they are very friendly and helpful.

Negative: The following should be read from the perspective of someone who just arrived after a long travel overnight from somewhere, tired and new to the place: A guide arrived at the homestay alongside Jonny and introduced himself and quoted quite high daily fees ( he makes use of a driver and separate car as well). I did not know of any better and allthough I managed to cut back a bit on the original quote, by reducing scope of services , it was still a pretty expensive day's outing for a solo traveler covering a fairly small area around Rantepoa with not much effort. . TIps were expected on top of this. . Afterwards I come to know that this guide does not work with Jonny but just tagged along with him to the homestay , knowing that there is a tourist that he can target (me) . That definitely had an effect that I will unfortunately remember for a while.. In any case Jonny was very apologetic about this and offered his services at a discounted price the next day and taking me to an interesting funeral ceremony a fair distance out of town. . Again will recommend him. See above. It is not that I did not dislike it, but people should just know that bathroom is in process of upgrading. Currently bathroom consists of a toilet and mandi for washing with bucket for flushing.
