Negative: Addition of a kitchen would definitely make the stay convenient and there were several locked doors, giving a sense of uncertainty of their use. May be a note on those doors saying "it stays locked" would make it comfortable for future guests.

Positive: We had a delightful time at Baylight. The downstairs apartment is clean and feels fresh, the beds were super comfortable (in fact I peeked at the brand so I would know for future mattress purchases) and the whole place is adorably decorated. They are still working on getting the kitchen set up, so if you are coming in the near future, bring meals and foods you can warm up in the microwave, bagels for the toaster, and don’t forget the ice cream which you can have while enjoying the gorgeous view outside your door. Catherine and Jeff were wonderful to work with and very responsive. All around, a wonderful home base for those planning on exploring the beauty of Vancouver Island.
Negative: If you're looking for a place to hang out with friends and family, this might not be the place. It worked well for us because all we wanted was a place to sleep at night and the rest of the time we were out and about, exploring the island. For that, it's perfect!

Positive: Absolutely stunning views Great location Gorgeous and perfectly quiet This is a good bedroom in a gorgeous location. If that's all you need, you won't be disappointed!
Negative: We wanted to sleep with the window open, but the screen was missing so we couldn't. Hopefully they rectify this soon! The listing stated that there is a hot tub - be aware that this is incorrect, there is not. Unfortunately, this was one of the amenities I was really looking forward to! The owner said (in a message) that the unit has a "fully equipped kitchen with induction cooker, oven, fridge, and seasonings". There is only a fridge and a microwave oven, so I'm not sure why they said that. There isn't even a sink in the kitchen area, although there is a tiny sink just outside the door that is plumbed to the garden hose. Neither that nor the bathroom sink was deep enough to wash dishes in, however. We washed our wine glasses in the bathtub, and used a paper towel since we didn't want to use their white bath towels and there were no kitchen cloths provided. Like other reviewers, we would love to see a larger bed provided, as the room will accommodate it. At minimum, we do hope that they fix the incorrect assembling of the bed frame, as currently the center bar is higher, creating a slope on each side. If we'd had an Allen wrench with us, we would have fixed that ourselves! All of the pillows were very new and very thick, far too thick to accommodate a back sleeper. Be aware that you may need to bring your own pillow if you sleep on your back! Also be aware: this is a basement walkout apartment. You will have to go down a flight of 17 steps to get to the back of the house, then up 2 or 3 steps to the deck of the unit., There also may be people staying in the house above, although the hosts were out of town during the time we stayed there.

Positive: Tranquility, stunning views, homely, freshly renovated felt like new, soft bedroom carpets, easy living. Delightful ornament touches
Negative: Main bed small and very firm, room size could accommodate at least a large queen size or a king. We were family of four and there was only settings for three. Needs a cupboard for storage of dry foods and perhaps a preparation bench space.
Summary: Tranquil weekender with stunning views, within short driving distance to major locations. Will definitely return.
