Surrounded by fields of sunflowers and wheat in the rolling hills of the unspoiled Val di Chiana, this lovely Tuscan country villa is located between two charming hilltop villages filled with great restaurants, wines, and exceptional shopping - as well as art, history, and beautiful views.
Podere Dadino is a two-story, stone and brick house, typical of the area. It has been carefully restored, retaining the original elements of brick arches, beamed ceilings, and some interior walls of exposed stone and brick. The spacious and comfortable, main house totals approximately 3500 square feet.
You enter through a covered portico (porch, with outdoor table for ten). Inside, three large arches divide the eat-in kitchen (with antique farmhouse table), the dining room with a table for twelve or more, and the sunny living room with large open fireplace and high-end (but comfortable) sofas and armchairs. On the other side of the kitchen are a bathroom with shower; a study with large antique wooden table/desk and a daybed; a TV room with access to the garden and pool area; and a laundry room with plenty of storage space.
A stone staircase leads upstairs to the high-ceilinged, airy, sitting room; four bedrooms (three bedrooms, each with a king-size bed, and one bedroom with a queen-size bed); two baths (one with shower, and one very large bathroom with shower and separate jacuzzi tub); and a large walk-in closet.
The attached guesthouse, approximately 430 square feet, has a separate entrance, two bedrooms (each with a queen-size bed), a small bath with shower, and a kitchen-sitting room with its original stone sink.
The house has plenty of space to be "together" as a family or group of friends - whether at the pool, cooking delicious meals and enjoying them indoors or out, or chatting in the living room. The layout also allows for private spaces when you want some time alone - whether working (or dozing) in the study, having a quiet read in the upstairs sitting room, or finding a peaceful spot under the trees.
The appliances are new. The kitchens are fully equipped and suitable for gourmet cooking. All mattresses, couches, and armchairs are new, comfortable, and of high quality. The bathrooms have modern fixtures. All windows and doors have mosquito screens. Otherwise, the house has been decorated and furnished in traditional Tuscan country-style, with characteristic colors, fabrics, and carefully chosen antique pieces for an authentic and comfortable Tuscan experience.
Although easily accessible and not remote (it is five kilometers from the A1 motorway exit), no other houses are visible from the house or grounds. A 400-meter (approximately 4000 feet long) private, gravel road leads to the house, so the house is well back from the road behind a large field. The house sits on two acres of well-manicured private garden and lawns, offering several areas for grilling or pizza making, dining al fresco, entertaining, or relaxing with a book and a glass of wine.
The grounds have been professionally landscaped with lawns, roses, lavender, flowers and shrubs of all sorts, pots of oleander and aromatic flowers set around mature fruit trees (plums, apricots, pears, apples, nuts, and figs), cypress, and shade trees. The garden includes a productive 50 square meter organic vegetable and herb garden with lettuces, heirloom tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, and more.
The covered front portico, with table and chairs for 10, is a favorite place for breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening - watching the morning light or the sunset with the hills in the distance.
A wisteria-covered loggia, with traditional outdoor pizza oven, dining table and chairs, is located on the side of the house near the pool, together with a large brick BBQ for outdoor cooking. The loggia is a perfect, shady spot for lunch! And making your own pizzas is a lot of fun.
The 6 by 12 meter (approximately 18 feet by 36 feet) swimming pool, with outdoor shower, gets full sun throughout the day. A stand of trees makes a shady spot at one end of the pool. At the other end of the pool, a rustic, wisteria-covered pergola offers another space for outdoor dining or dozing.
The house is great for a group of friends to relax and catch up; for hosting an extended family or two; for celebrating a milestone birthday, a special anniversary, or a family event; or just as a place to experience Tuscany at its best.
Our caretaker is a life-long local man, who lives very nearby and is available for any problems or concerns. Cooking and extra housekeeping is available.
The property is perfectly located for exploring southern Tuscany and Umbria, either by main road or country roads. The house is just over the 'border' dividing the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, giving you the two prettiest valleys in Tuscany - the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia (a UNESCO world heritage site). Charming towns, history, art, beautiful scenery, great restaurants, wine, and artisan foods are found in every direction.
The nearest village is Lucignano - a five minute drive. The slightly larger village, Monte San Savino, is a ten minute drive in the other direction. Both are historic, charming, and offer beautiful views over the valley. Please note that the house is not walkable to either town, because of no sidewalks or direct paths.
Siena is 35 kilometers away, Arezzo 20 kilometers, Cortona 15 kilometers. Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, the Colli Aretini and Colli Senesi wine roads (and wineries), the hot water mineral spas south of Siena, Etruscan archaeological sites, and many other places of interest, including events, festivals, local markets, and the designer outlets are easily reached for day trips. We provide a detailed House Book that offers suggestions and advice on restaurants, shopping, places to visit, things to do, and much more.
We are proud of our many 5-star reviews, and Please email with any questions, and check our website. We love the house and the area - and hope you will too.

Summary: We (9 people, 2 families, all "children" grown up) enjoyed a wonderful 2 weeks at Podere Dadino. The house is beautiful and genuinely seems to have everything you need. All the beds are very comfortable and the nets on the windows are life savers. The garden is beautiful and so well looked after and the pool area is amazing. The "young people" says it's the best pool we have ever had, and we have been coming to Italy every summer for a number of years! The location is perfect: near the main road, but very quiet, and so close to two lovely small towns, with lots of restaurants to choose from. And very drivable to Siena and Arezzo. Would definitely recommend a stay at Podere Dadino and we would love to return.

Summary: The house is in a quiet location and while not immediately next to the big attractions of Florence or Sienna it is in a great location if you want to explore Tuscany. It is extremely well equipped, even down to spare phone charging leads. The layout of the house is ideal for groups or family and the pool is just fantastic. If you stay here, you will not be disappointed.

Summary: We had a wonderful two week holiday at Monte San Savino. The villa was beautiful and very well equipped and the grounds and swimming pool all kept immaculate. We made good use of the Pizza oven and Barbecue , eating outdoors was pleasant as temps were 30c plus, but if you preferred to eat in, the Kitchen/ Dining room is very attractive and spacious in a traditional Tuscan style. All our family enjoyed the location, making trips to Florence, Sienna and other villages within easy reach. We hope to return one day.

Summary: Friends and family made this comfortable and well-appointed country house our base for a memorable 2-week stay. A major reason for choosing this house was near certainty that the property would be as good in person as it looked online and that everything would work. (We had trouble with the TV, but that was probably due to our ineptitude.) We not only liked the house, but just as importantly, we liked the location and the incredibly helpful instructions provided re: everything from what shops to visit in the nearby villages to how to run the washing machine. Not that we spent a lot of time at our Tuscan home--we set forth every day to visit a new hill town to discover the riches of Tuscany all around us. At night, we cooked communal dinners and shared our day's adventures. If there were anything I could change about this nearly perfect place, it would be to build a footpath to the nearest village so walking there was easier. A car is necessary, so expect a fair amount of driving depending on how you want to spend your days. It would be nice to visit again when the weather is warmer to take advantage of the yard and pool. But, the cooler weather meant fires in the fireplace and grilling outside over a wood fire. And, we never had enough time to finish reading all of the great Italian cookbooks and local guides. Next time!

Summary: For several years I have envisioned a trip to Tuscany with friends, staying at a lovely villa, , visiting nearby medieval hill top villages taking time out for lunch, a glass of wine and some gelato of course, then returning home to our place in the countryside. Well, I couldn't have chosen a better villa to make this dream come true. All seven of us fell in love with it the minute we saw it. Lolita greeted us warmly, and we certainly enjoyed the dinner she prepared and delivered to us. Believe me, after a overnight flight, and driving from the Rome airport, we were more than delighted and relieved to sit down to a delicious dinner and to start enjoying our vacation. Speaking of Lolita and food, I would highly recommend arranging a "pizza night" with her. Lolita and her mother came and prepared a lovely meal for us featuring pizza with three different toppings. We had this our last night which was a great idea. We rented both the house and the guest house so everyone had their own bedroom which they loved. We focused on the farm to table theme. Despite the fact that it was towards the end of the season, we took advantage of what was in the vegetable garden making stuffed squash, butternut squash soup, eggplant parmesan , and many dishes involving fresh tomatoes. Of course, it was a treat to run out to garden to grab a head of fresh lettuce for the night's salad. We certainly can't complain about the weather, as it had cooled down considerably from the high temperatures of the summer. The Tuscan sun, warm but not too hot, greeted us each day. To work in all the villages we had intended to see, we got home too late each day to take full advantage of the amazing swimming pool. However, we did work in a couple of naps poolside. Speaking of villages, we visited 14 of them.... Cortona, Assisi, Volterra, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Sienna, Orvieto, Pienza, Montepulciano, Arezzo, etc. We had a hard time coming up with a favorite. On good advice, we took the train to Florence (to avoid the driving in the city). As "Rick Steve's disciples" we went to the Academia, the Uffizi Gallery, and followed his audio Renaissance Walk through Florence. Another special treat for us was a cooking class at Podere Il Casale near Pienza. It was fantastic! Driving through Italy on the narrow, curvy roads presented a bit more of a challenge than anticipated even with the car's Garmin, but we returned the cars unscathed. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Summary: Just spent a fun week with extended family at this house, and it was everything the reviews described it as. We were there during a heat wave (it was in the 90's all week, including at night), so the pool was essential and all of us used it everyday. It's a great pool, very large and clean, with plenty of room for a big family to use. A couple caveats: the house does not have A/C and it is *extremely* warm even with fans in all the bedrooms, so be prepared for that if you're there in July and August. We enjoyed exploring many nearby towns including Sienna, Arezzo, Monte San Savino, Florence, and Lucignano, however nothing is in walking distance from the house (especially given the narrow bending roads which are dangerous to walk beside), so keep that in mind if that is something important to you. (Being able to easily walk into a town.) Lolita, the house keeper, was very kind and helpful. We hired her and her mother to make us a 4-course Italian dinner one night, which was fantastic. We also took advantage of the outdoor barbecue and bocce ball court. Overall, a great house and a great location!

Summary: We came to this amazing house to share a week with friends and family from the USA, Holland, Peru and Switzerland. We had 3 kids who took full advantage of the beautiful pool and the green space and garden.... we may have even left you a frisbee! The adults loved the large "american" beds, the various outdoor spaces where we enjoyed aperol spritz's every night, and the pool as well. We had Lolita over to prepare wood fired pizzas for the group and explored Siena, Montepulciano and Lucignano and Monte San Savino. Such a joy. The house is fully stocked with everything you need from towels to great quality knives to countless books, and sound advice from the owners. You can't go wrong with this spot! Enjoy.

Summary: My family of nine members recently spent a week at Podere Dadino. What a lovely home! Every comfort and need was well thought out. After a long day of sightseeing, it was a special treat for us to enjoy the beautiful pool and bask in the warm Tuscan sun. I highly recommend this property and hope to return in the near future.

Summary: We can't express how much we enjoyed staying at this beautiful Tuscan country home nestled between two charming towns.  It was absolutely perfect!  Our visit to Tuscany included four couples and 3 young adult children.  The home met our every need.  The grounds are immaculate, the house beautifully restored with many amenities for your use. Many of the other reviews outline the amenities which I won't reiterate; however, other items to also mention are that it includes a complete library highlighting travel and regional highlights as well as a large collection of Tuscan cookbooks.  Victoria, one of the owners and main contact could not be more responsive to any question you may have.  She is an email away whether in the US or in Italy. Lolita is the local contact who is minutes away is available for information, preparing meals and responding to any needs you may have. Our group asked Lolita to prepare a dinner on the day we arrived as we were quite jet lagged and she delivered a wonderful meal and shared much information about the local area.  We cooked in all the other days and I must say we gave the kitchen a thorough workout and it met all our needs. We enjoyed pizza night by the authentic wood burning pizza oven which was another highlight among so many.  With the house as a main gathering place, we visited wineries in Montepulciano and the surrounding area. The Vino Nobile was outstanding and I fear we spent far to many Euros shipping wine home.  We attended a cooking school in Cortona which was a tremendous amount of fun.  At the end of the instructions everyone sits down to eat the huge meal along with pitchers of Vino dela Casa.  Victoria provides a very comprehensive "house book" in advance with many, many recommendations about all these areas as well as information about the house and grounds. Other days we spent seeing the sights in , Arezzo, Cortona, Orvieto, Montalcino, Siena and travelling the Chianti road.  Our groups were sometimes split up but then we all met back at the Villa.  The evenings were filled with cooking, eating and enjoying the wines. If you want to stay at a quintessential Tuscan villa that is the picture of everything you ever think of about when dreaming ofTuscany, this is the place for you.  The time was not nearly enough.

Summary: Our family had an absolutely amazing time in this beautiful Tuscan country home that far exceeded our expectations! The website (www.tuscancountryhouse.com) does an excellent job describing the home, so no point in wasting space detailing that here. The site also has a wonderful gallery of photos. Needless to say, the home is a beautifully restored with many modern amenities. A few amenities that were especially appealing to our group was the beautiful pool (we used it almost every night), manicured grounds, outdoor brick grill and three outdoor eating areas. The fenced and gated property nestled between a large sunflower field and rolling Tuscan hills provided ideal solitude and privacy. Ideally located between two quaint Tuscan towns while at the same time just minutes from the highway. By car the house is 1 hour from Florence, 45 minutes to Siena. Victoria (one of the owners) is wonderful to work with, as well as Lolita (local contact, housekeeper, cook), Piero (groundskeeper) and Vanni (property manager). Lolita made us a Tuscan dinner one night which was one of the highlights of our trip. Not only was the 4-course meal outstanding, but she was a delight to talk with after the meal! Our day trips included, Perugia, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Lucignano, Cortona, Cinque Terre and Florence. All of them are amazing in their own way. Victoria’s house book was the perfect companion to the region and provided many tips to guide our visit. In the end, we loved the house and didn’t want to leave. We are planning our next trip there as we speak!
