Positive: The location is very near to Great Wall Mutianyu which is a plus point! The owner of the place is very friendly and he offered pick up from airport and sent us to Beijing city at a reasonable price! Dinner and breakfast were included during our stay and the food was delicious (vegetables were grown in their garden)! There were kittens at that time and my kids love to play with them! We really enjoyed our stay and we got to know the owner’s family better! 😊
Negative: Maybe because the place is outside of the city so the toilet can easily get clogged. According to the family, we cannot throw toilet papers into the toilet bowl and we are supposed to throw the used toilet papers in the bin provided. However, there were 6 of us staying in a room so it would be a hygienic issue when we all poop.

Positive: Hosts were extremely accomodating, arranging tickets to the wall, free transfers to the wall and paid transfers to Beijing. Always checked everything and didn't just drop us off but got out of car and walked us to the right place. Meals were also excellent and plentiful. Many thanks

Positive: The homestay was a great location - right by the start of the wall. The staff were fantastic! We were picked up from the airport and dropped off in the morning right by the wall. They then arranged a day out in Beijing for us- helping with ticket bookings and driving us to the city then into the airport again. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Would highly recommend!
Negative: Mattresses were thin and hard- not the most comfortable sleep.
Summary: Fantastic homestay in a great location. Amazing staff, delicious food and such fantastic value for money.

Positive: We are two introverts from Australia, so we don't usually gravitate towards homestay or BnB style accommodation, however pickings are slim here in Mutianyu! So we selected this homestay and were so pleasantly surprised by our experience. Staff (this is a family run business) are kind and professional, offering friendly service that isn't overbearing. We were picked up from and dropped back to the Beijing Train Station in a clean and comfortable car for a very reasonable price (it's 90 minutes each way, not a short trip). The accommodation is already inside the scenic area so you can very much avoid the whole shuttle bus situation, and we were dropped off right to the base of the climb! We recommend trying to go in the afternoon, it was super quiet as we'd missed the tour busses and the crowds who mostly arrive in the morning. Most of our pictures have no other human beings in them! We had a delicious vegan dinner and breakfast provided with no fuss and lots of flavour. When paying for our room we also paid for our Wall tickets and add-ons which were purchased and organised on our behalf. Bonus adorable kittens and cats roaming outside the property 😍 The room had a beautiful view of the mountain and even a tiny peak of the wall. Bed was comfortable and the room was warm and clean. Plenty of water and snacks provided too. Very simple room with just the bed, one bedside table, a small seat with table, and a small bathroom, but that's all we needed.
Negative: Nothing negative to say about this property, just a few things you might like to know in advance of booking... If you have any mobility limitations, make sure you let the staff know in advance - our room was up a steep set of narrow stairs (not an issue for us). If you have heavy bags keep this in mind - our bags were carried for us even though we protested and wanted to carry the burden of our oversized luggage ourselves! My travelling partner speaks Chinese so we didn't have any problems communicating, but might be good to have a translation app on hand if you don't speak Chinese. One of the hosts has enough English to facilitate your stay but if you want to ask any clarifying or more complex questions, maks sure you are prepared. Pillows on the beds are traditional and made with beans (kind of like a wheat/hot pack?) not soft like a Western pillow, which was a new experience for me! I didn't find it uncomfortable, but if you have a sensitive neck or back you might like to be aware of this.

Negative: We weren't asked what we wanted for breakfast. Came out of our room in the morning to find already fried eggs on a plate that were cold and a bowl of rice. The room we stayed in had terrible condensation problems. The walls were dripping with water that went onto my childrens pillows and bedsheets, so they woke up in a wet bed in the morning.
Summary: I wouldn't stay here again and was glad it was only for one night.

Positive: Friendly, helpful and efficient! Food good too. Very good choice for visiting the wall in the evening or early morning as they organise the tickets and the driver up/back is included ... and all done in a matter of 10 minutes!
Negative: Nothing wrong. A professionally-run homestay. Better than others we stayed in, but a homestay so not as comfortable as some hotels.
