Take a step back in time when you enter our little log cabin by the river. Built in 1949, this cabin is a replica of the log cabins built by the gold seekers of Alaska. Though modern in most aspects we have retained the native charm of unfinished wood, rough, hand-hewn logs and naked beams. The inspiration for the cabin was found by my great grandfather who spent time in Alaska working on the Alcan highway. You will find evidence of its Canadian heritage throughout the cabin.
The cabin sits up on a gently sloping cliff and offers excellent views of the river. Enjoy a glass of wine on the dock and relax as you watch the sun set.

Summary: We stayed here because I was working in Cedar Falls and in Ames and this was a good halfway point. It is so peaceful by the river and the host was very accommodating. My husband lives with a physical disability and doesn't handle stairs well; this place has no stairs and was very accessible and worked well for him. Our dog loved it too, plenty of green space. A lovely spot in a small town, one of our favorite stops. Thank You!

Summary: Every piece of furniture was very uncomfortable.Kitchen was very small. The whole cabin was out dated. A lot of vegetation growth outside,not trimmed up neatly.

Summary: Oh my gosh it was wonderful. We wete inbetween . I have grown children in a nearby town. They were able to come visit and relax by the river. What an amazing beautiful place to stay. The gals next door were wonderful as well. Thanks for sharring.

Summary: I rented this property for my family to stay in while visiting. The house was beautiful with lovely views of the river and beautiful grounds. The host was very accommodating. My family is already looking to book it again next year for their next visit.

Summary: The property was clean, and the bathroom had been remodeled and the mattresses changed since our last stay. Also, I'm pretty sure we left 2 Iowa Chops in the freezer. I think they fell behind the ice bin. Feel free to eat them. We just purchased them on Friday.
