Positive: We really loved our time at Casa de Andréa in the Roça of Terreiro Velho of Lucindo and Marie. Located right at the edge of the Obô natural park, the house offers a total immersion in it's natural surroundings. From the balcony various bird species can be observed such as the African Grey Parrot. The nearby waterfall (O Que Pipi) and beach (Praia Abelha) are incredible and you'll probably find yourself alone. The house itself is spacious, clean and well equipped (mosquito nets included). Both dinners and breakfast served were cooked with local produce from the Roça and Marie (the landlady) prepared us the best food we had in the country. Through Lucindo we also arranged a car trip around the island and a boat trip to Baia das Agulhas, which we both highly recommend. The ideal nature-based getaway!

Positive: We found this amazing place on Booking and hesitated at first to book due to the location and incorrect old reviews - yes, it's a little further than most properties: but that just makes it better. I'm so incredible glad we stayed here. The location is beyond anything you can imagine, right on the edge of the national park but you feel in the middle of the forest. We made tapes of the sound because no one would otherwise believe you can hear so much animals! The massive tree in front has something of 'mother tree' in avatar and we spend hours just looking at in and all the live in and around it - its a world on itself - or on the bench in the front garden with a nice view on the ocean. The house looks brand new, is situated on a slope in a plantation garden (cacao, piment, vanilla and banana, fruits) and is recently totally renovated: perfect bed and mattress, rain shower, spotless and hyper clean well furnished rooms, a library, satellite tv (we had the view in front so did never use it), and all very warmly and beautiful decorated: you feel at home the moment you enter the door. It was also nice to have mosquito nets and protection everywhere - although we never saw much insects. It's crazy equipped, even a good working washing machine, charged flashlights, fans, a hammock with incredible view, cooler, all imaginable kitchen things, iron stuff... really all was available. The view on the forest from the big balcony is incredible, we did see all the typical and endemic birds, often the monkeys, flying bats eating the fruit from the mango and bread tree in front, parrots,... unbelievable to have this paradise in front. The beach is as beautiful as banana beach, but totally private and remote and just 10 minutes further on the road, snorkel there, the reef in front and around the rocky corner is crazy, sharks, turtle, manta (coral bleaching like all over but plenty of fish), you can also take a wooden cano and explore...
Negative: We did not know there's no wifi at the location but with a simple local simcard we had a perfect connection for no money.

Positive: This accommodation is perfect for anyone seeking tranquility, privacy, and a deep connection with nature. The house was clean and well-maintained, as was the spacious garden. There was plenty of room, a comfortable bed, and a large terrace ideal for relaxing and observing nature. The beach is just a short walk away, and you’ll have it all to yourself – total privacy. You are surrounded by nature, with the nearest house several hundred meters away, which adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Due to the location (in the middle of a tropical forest), the road access is a bit rough, but the natural beauty makes up for it. Breakfasts, on the terrace, were accompanied by the sounds of birds and monkeys – truly magical. Just keep in mind that the terrain is not flat, which is to be expected in a forest setting. Marie was a very attentive host and a wonderful cook. And that fruit? A taste you don't know. We ordered local meals, and everything was delicious. We also took advantage of the guided tour. Our guide picked us up from the airport and in the middle of the week took us to Praia Banana and Praia Boi, both stunning beaches in the north of the island. There’s also an option for a boat tour, which we unfortunately didn’t have time for. If you’re looking for a unique place in the heart of nature with a personal touch, this is it. We will definitely come back here.

Positive: Superb location, with amazing views, right at the entrance of the park. Lucindo and Marie are wonderful hosts, very attentive and available. And Marie is a fantastic cook. The roça has unbelievable trees, vegetables, fruits, coffee, spices… all cultivated by Lucindo and his family, that live nearby. You have the feeling of being in the jungle, but with the comfort of being very close to the community. It’s also very close to Cascata O Quê Pipi (30 min walk) and the Bunbu beach (15 min).
Negative: The roads on the island are all extremely damaged and they do require a 4x4 car. It’s an adventure getting into Praia Boi or Macaco or even Banana, inside Monte Belo, and Lucindo’s place is no exception. There is no Wi-Fi. Not a problem for us, but keep that in mind.

Negative: For the price I was expecting the property to be better kept. The windows need some maintenance and the bugs can enter freely. Of course that considering the location it is normal to find some bugs =)
