Positive: Fridge full of goodies, lovely home baking, bathroom well stocked, lots to read, beautiful outlook. The open fire was a surprising bonus. Hosts very helpful. Parking easy.

Negative: We didn’t find the hot plate until after we’d had a breakfast that didn’t need cooking….shouldve looked more carefully! Place seemed a bit dark…maybe lighting could’ve been better.

Summary: Perfect for what we needed. If you’re staying in Thames a place with a view of the firth is ideal.

Positive: Chartre Manor is set in a great location - high on a hillside above Thames with great views over the Firth of Thames. The sunsets are spectacular. Anna-Marie is a great host - couldn't do too much for us and the cottage is very well stocked with foodstuffs for breakfasts/snacks.

Negative: TV in cottage has good range of Sky channels - but wasn't "smart", so no Netflix. Also, booking.com says there is a washing machine in the cottage - it isn't, it is in an adjacent garage and, unfortunately, didn't work properly whilst we were there.

Summary: Great location with excellent hosts.

Positive: Lovely spot, excellent hosts, well appointed and comfortable. Felt very spoiled staying here.

Negative: The only downside of the fabulous location, complete with great views, is that the road and drive are steep. All this meant was that we parked at the start of the cycle trail instead of riding there (no big deal).
