Summary: After staying here with Gerardo, we went to an all inclusive resort on the Pacific coast to experience both the rainforest mountains and the beaches. I will never go to another concrete jungle resort if I can help it. This guest house on a working ranch had some bugs, but was clean, but from the back porch, we also saw two cans, monkeys, found, a tortoise, went on horseback rides, and completely enjoyed and immersed ourselves in real Costa Rica. If you want to stay at a Holiday Inn, maybe you don’t go to Costa Rica? There were quirks with the house, but we loved it. Gerardo who has lived on the ranch for over 30 years doesn’t speak any English, there’s no Wi-Fi at the house, and new grocery stores very close by so plan everything out before you go and totally enjoy your stay in the country in the rainforest in the clouds. if you’re squeamish, this isn’t a great spot for you either. The tree frog in the shower, the beautiful blue lizard under the bed and a scorpion behind the plant. We’re all pretty awesome in our opinion. It is a completely unique experience and one that I’m really glad we did.

Summary: From the minute I booked this rental, the host (Luis) was excellent in communication. The directions to the house were easy to follow and the road in well maintained. This is a working cattle farm, so there were three gates to drive through and easy to open. We met Gerardo as we entered the property. He is great, very friendly and walks you through the house. There are a few dogs that come by to visit occasionally, they are very friendly. The main floor of the house is the focal point: multiple large windows that allow for great views towards the volcano and valleys. Our favorite part of the visit was the mornings, when the clouds slowly left the valley with a warm, gentle breeze. At night, be sure to keep the doors closed, the bugs are attracted to the lights in the house. The beds were very comfortable and there are plenty of blankets if needed. A highlight was when the owner invited us to watch his cattle operation and he clearly cares a lot for his livestock. There was no cell service for us (Verizon) or WiFi, so be ready for reading, card games, and lots of storytelling. I am very glad we stayed here, and my kids will remember this trip for a long time. Thank you so much for sharing your house and property with us, hope to visit again soon.
