Positive: I liked the location and the staff member was nice but also seemed pretty distracted even though it wasn't as though she was on a call. Also thought she was ignoring me but she later clarified that she was hard of hearing so it was ultimately a non issue. Room was pretty clean and spacious. Stayed for an Valentines day. Wasn't expected but would've been nice if hotel had done a little something to make the evening a little more special. I work at a hotel and we try to do things like that when we can and it encourages repeat customers and works often. Not a point against the hotel though, but a missed opportunity to get those "extra brownie points" but the night was still memorable and the hotel was comfortable and clean. Would probably stay again if in the area.
Negative: The website advertised a pool and yet it was closed for remodeling which was very disappointing since this was one of the main reasons I chose this specific hotel. Also there was debris all by the door and floors im guessing due to the remodeling but there was lots of broken pieces of wood and concrete etc right by the side entrance where the guests would walk in. Lastly, several doors were open and you could see mattresses turned over and food (specifically eggs and other items) all over some of the floors. My room was fine but it gave the hotel a pretty gross "vibe" if you will. Also the breakfast was subpar even though it was free which was nice. Sausage tasted like turkey sausage and eggs were nasty and soaking wet and tasted like nothing but pure salt. My girlfriend shared the same opinion without me even asking her first so it wasn't just my taste buds. I actually work maintenance at a hotel so I understand how things can be sometimes but there were quite a few things they could've made sure to clean up and whatnot but decided to leave it that way for whatever reason for all to see.
Summary: Nice location with pretty friendly staff. Not visually appealing and remodel should be on website.

Positive: The staff was great, it was clean, beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was pretty good.
Negative: The hotel was under renovation and I wasn't informed of this when I booked the room. The pool and hot tub were down so we had to find things to do. French Lick doesn't offer enough things for a 2 year old to do in winter.
