Summary: It took us some time to decide on where to stay near Bergerac. We chose this location because it looked good and suited our needs. We were very disappointed with the condition of the property. Photographs that went with the listing didn't represent what we found. We realise that we booked the accommodation towards the end of the season but the property felt tired and in need of remedial work. The lady who met us was charming, welcoming and very helpful on our arrival. She explained some issues and made us aware of a cleaning fee (of which we declined, preferring to clean the property ourselves) and a charge for extra electricity, both things that we were not aware of before booking. On the plus side the property is set in a beautiful and quiet rural location with easy access to the major town of Bergerac and countless beautiful, sleepy villages nearby.

Summary: If you want peace & quiet this is the place to stay. The 18th Century Farmhouse has been beautifully restored but has the advantage of contemporary fittings inside. The Kitchen is well equipped & the dining/living area very comfortable. The outside space is lovely, although you do have to chase the sun as the numerous trees do tend to hide it! The bedroom we used was comfortable (just the two of us) & the adjacent bathroom clean with a good shower & well fitted out. Beware the extra charges though (not on the website). We were initially asked to pay extra for bedding & towels & were told that cleaning was an extra. However. Home Away advised us this was "mis-representational advertising" & that we should pay neither. We left the place clean & tidy, as we always do with rentals. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would highly recommend this property to those who enjoy staying in remote, peaceful areas where you are greeted by birdsong in the morning & can hear the owls calling at night.

Summary: Bird singing you awake and asleep. Very comfortable. Super nice people. Two patios to choose from. The view from the upstairs bedroom is the way to wake up. When we come back to the area we will be sure to see if this place is available. There is a charge for electric if you are over 200 klw that was not in the description. We were there 7 days and was way under but if you are there in cooler weather it may effect you. Once again nice place, super nice people. In a charming little village.

Summary: We wanted a quiet and peaceful rural location and this was ideal. The area is so wonderfully full of wildlife and birdsong you could just sit outside and wonder at the world around you and the area is absolutely beautiful. The cottage is picturesque, well equipped and comfortable and has a very efficient wood burning stove in the living room and the owners will keep you supplied with as many logs as you need. The owners welcomed us when we arrived (late) were always on hand if necessary but never imposed and were very helpful, nice and friendly. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend this cottage to everyone. Ian & Kina Harding

Summary: "We have just returned from a very enjoyable short stay at this cottage. It is located on a small farm that was easy to find and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners. Although part of the farm buildlings it feels private and looks out over surrounding woodland and fields. The building itself is recently restored, comfortable and well equipped. The local area is very beautiful, even in winter, with plenty small roads and tracks to walk. The attractive village of St Georges de Montclar is an easy and pleasant walk - one day seeing three red squirrels on the way, has a useful small shop and a bakery with woood-fired oven making great bread."
