Summary: We enjoyed two weeks in the house. The pool was nice and kept clean. Fabio was a gracious host.

Summary: This home is beautifully located on the north-east side of a mountain with a spectacular view on Stia. When we arrived owner Fabio welcomed us, together with his English speaking friend Monica who guided us around the premises and gave recommendations for sightseeing and other activities including food... They also very kindly helped us when our car had problems by taking us to their local garage and explaining the problem (and getting it fixed for free...). The house is simple but has all you need including BBQ and a comfortable swimming pool. The Casentino valley, including Stia village, is virtually undiscovered by tourists, which gives a more authentic experience compared to the rest of Tuscany. This is also reflected in restaurant prices with pizzas and main courses rarely exceeding €6-8... Final verdict: perfect place for a quiet, calm holiday away from mass tourism

Summary: We stayed here for 7 days. Once I got out of the car I said I didn't want to leave. We were even greeted by a double rainbow. For me it was perfect. I felt like I was home. Fabio greeted us with a bottle of wine and tour of the place. The villa was rustic and homey. The views were spectacular. The weather though a bit cooler than Florence was comfortable and the evenings were perfect snuggling temperature as you watched the evenings blanket the town below you and the lights come on. It was the perfect place to unwind after the hustle and bustle of Rome and Florence. I found it difficult to leave. You do need a car to get there. But once there you can walk to the town and back.

Summary: My wife and I visited Stia in mid Sept for 11 days. We used the cottage as a base for our travels; Sienna, Cortana, Rimini and Florence are all 1-2 hours away. The house is very rustic as you will see from the photos, the land around it is large and very flexible; outside oven (we used to make fresh pizza), bbq, multiple sheltered seating areas and the pool. When up in the cottage, you feel very remote, but the village is just 1.5km down the hill - we did a daily shopping trip for fresh products in under 30 min. The host, Fabio, doesn't speak English but he's very friendly. He arranged for an ex-pat, Monica, to be at the cottage as we arrived, which helped tremendously. She was an excellent guide and happy to continue giving help / tourist advice via WhatsApp during our stay. We would/will definitely return to the cottage but would go June to August to make full use of the pool.
