Starfish Cottage is a small recently updated house that's full of character. With 2 bedrooms it comfortably sleeps 4 but can sleep up to 6 people (one bedroom also includes a large sofa-bed capable of sleeping 2) making it the perfect vacation home for families, couples or small groups of friends.
A 300 square foot main deck is ideal for kicking off your shoes and relaxing. Whilst the fully enclosed yard is currently a 'work in progress', it's still perfect for pets and children to run around and play in until they're exhausted! A heat pump helps keep the house cool during the summer months whilst a gas fire and baseboard heaters keep it cozy during winter.
Parksville is a great base from which to explore and enjoy the whole Island. When you get back after a day out hiking, sightseeing or simply enjoying the beach just chill out on the deck and make use of the barbeque or the fully equipped kitchen. Can't be bothered to cook? Then wander into Parksville and take advantage of the local eateries.
Your general shopping needs are well catered for at the Wembley Mall which is only a 2 minute drive away and has a Save-on-Foods, Canadian Tire and BC liquor alongside other stores. There's also a small convenience store at the end of the road.
We don't have cable TV at Starfish Cottage but we do have a dedicated Netflix account for our guests. If you have your own media device then feel free to bring it along and plug it into the 55" television.
There is a separate laundry room attached to the house and the driveway is large enough should you want to bring your boat with you.
A keypad entry system means you don't have to rely on anybody to meet you on arrival but as we live just 15 minutes away we are on hand if needed.

Summary: I can’t say enough good things about this cottage! From the smooth checkin, thoughtful welcome basket (seriously made me cry) and all the little personal touches, our family had an incredible weekend exploring Parksville and nearby areas. The kitchen had absolutely everything you would need including some stocked items in the fridge and pantry if you were in a pinch. Highly recommend this place to families and those with pets. A++

Summary: This cottage far exceeded our expectations! It was cute, cozy and conveniently located. What puts this property over the top - the hosts, Ian and Erin. Ian and Erin have thought of everything. From the fresh flowers, cold drinks and information binder with helpful suggestions of things to do and see plus it answers any questions you may have. We will definitely make a return trip to Parksville just so we can stay at the Starfish cottage again!

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at Erin and Ian’s cottage. It was the perfect home base for us (family of 4) to explore Parksville. The cottage was clean and very thoughtfully stocked with many things that were unexpected but very much appreciated. The kids enjoyed the games, books and outdoor toys and it was so nice coming back to an air conditioned place after a long hot day at the beach. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed and more. We definitely appreciated the welcome basket with local beer and wine and cheeses. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Parksville and the surrounding areas. Thanks Erin and Ian!

Summary: Starfish Cottage was all that we had hoped it would be and more. Our two boys, aged 9 and 16 don't mind sharing a room but really need separate beds, so the layout of the house was perfect for us. The sofa bed was made-up for us upon arrival and was large and comfortable for our younger son. The kitchen is very well stocked with every gadget or appliance we could have needed, including lots of spices and condiments, tea, coffee. butter, oil - everything! Our hosts also provided a gourmet welcome basket of wine, local beer, cheese, and other goodies that was a really nice touch. The cold water and soft drinks in the fridge were also much appreciated. We made use of all of the lawn games from giant connect-four to corn hole, and enjoyed the other puzzles and games in the cottage. It is a lovely cottage in a quiet neighbourhood, and Erin and Ian have thought of absolutely everything to make it cozy and welcoming.

Summary: Starfish cottage was more than just a place to stay, we were hosted for a holiday. There were so many thoughtful details - games, books, a fully equipped kitchen, backyard family games. We loved it! There is beach access a short walk away, and the air conditioning was a nice treat at the end of a hot afternoon by the water. We’ll be back!

Summary: We loved this cottage. From the welcoming treats to extra amenities provided in case we forgot something to books and games. It was meticulously clean and decorated to provide a relaxing atmosphere. Our hosts were very attentive and easy to communicate with, very prompt. A lovely quiet place, a few minutes drive to the public beaches. I would highly recommend this to anyone I know. We would return too!

Summary: From the moment we booked to the day we checked in the owners were wonderful. The house was beautiful and we were so blown away when we arrived about the huge yard and how amazing the house was. We enjoyed a great week and our dog loved running and playing in the large yard with our kids. The house is central to everything a family would like to do and see in Parksville, Combs and Qualicum. We look forward to staying here again soon.
