The Little House at the Finger Lakes is the ideal relaxing getaway with loved ones. Conveniently located near Canandaigua Lake, ideal base for visiting wineries and all the shopping, restaurants and amenities in Canandaigua and Naples. A perfectly humble resort set on 14 peaceful acres, uphill from Canandaigua Lake with swimming pool (seasonal), wooded trails, picnic/campfire area & grill. Plenty of lake activities, hiking, scenic beauty spots, farmer’s markets, wineries, craft breweries. A secluded haven where you can relax and feel comforted by our thorough cleaning and sanitizing protocol.
Part of an old Homestead built in the 1880’s, The Little House is one of just two dwellings on property, the other being the main farmhouse with adjoining Farmhouse Annex, plus an old and quintessentially upstate New York barn. You can enjoy plenty of peace and space to stretch your legs strolling around the lawns and open grounds plus 0.6 miles of woodland trails that surround the immediate property. If you wish to stay put, relax and simply enjoy The Little House, you can easily stock up on provisions in nearby Canandaigua town and have a cozy night in. Cook your chosen dinner on the deck grill or full kitchen kitted out with all that you will need.
The Little House is also a great base from which to explore. Secluded yet not isolated - even well known Heron Hill Winery’s Tasting Room is right on the same road as us and in summer many of our guests choose to walk there. We are almost equidistant between Canandaigua to the north and Naples to the south with many great amenities, activities, attractions and restaurants to choose from. We have some excellent ‘tried and tested’ recommendations (by ourselves and previous guests) for day and evening experiences and for all paces of getaway desired.
In Summer 2020, many couples and families chose The Little House as a perfect spot to combine a getaway with keeping up to date with work commitments. Plenty of space and ready made entertainment with the pool for those not working and a very good fiber-optic internet meshed system to work remotely and join Zoom meetings for those who are. Commute time from this remote ‘office’ to the pool is approximately 30 seconds!
*****Of course, like you, even with some glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, we are taking the Coronavirus risk seriously and want to assure all guests that we continue to implement even more rigorous cleaning and sanitizing to our already well reviewed ‘sparkling clean’ cleaning practices. The pool (in summer) is really the only area that might have occasion to be shared and in that instance only shared with our Annex, usually just 2 guests (3 maximum), and very rarely indeed, by ourselves. In the instance that the guests of the suite and the cottage use the pool at the same time, the pool and surrounding area is certainly spacious enough to enjoy very easily and safely. We have plenty of sun beds/seating/sun umbrellas at each opposite end of the pool and all high touch areas are routinely sanitized. We also provide additional disinfectant spray and clean cloths for our guests to use as often as they see fit. We discuss mindfulness and social distancing in the booking process/confirmation stage and it is also noted in the welcome information. We absolutely want our guests to feel safe, confident, comfortable and relaxed about their getaway and we do all that we can to put everyone’s minds at ease. Last year’s implemented plans and protocols worked exceptionally well - here’s to continuing to navigate safely through the challenges of Covid in order to enjoy precious and much needed time away with loved ones *********

Our quirky cottage is mostly open plan which makes it a very sociable space, and we think it makes a perfect set up for a couple or two friends. We do have a brand new queen-size sofa bed in the living area to accommodate two additional adults/children for group or family getaways although the areas are only separated by drapes for basic privacy: the stairs that lead up to the master bedroom do not have a door - awesome for families, maybe less private for two couples!
We have a wonderful new Mitsubishi Climate Control system with units and remote controls on both floors. These cozify the cottage in winter months and make it super cool and comfortable in the summer months!
Couples are welcome to bring their own pack-n-play’s to accommodate their infants/toddlers, along with any safety items such as stair gates.
We leave a flashlight in the hall closet for guests to borrow during their stay as although there is some outdoor lighting, we are in a rural country setting and the flashlight is a useful supplement!
Year-round, the plentiful network of wineries and craft breweries spanning the Finger Lakes Region offer a fun and sociable day out. We have plenty of great recommendations for you!
Each season offers plenty of entertainment to suit all tastes and ages. In summer, activities include sailing, kayaking, swimming, paddle-boarding, fishing, plus excellent and challenging countryside for cycling and hiking. Roseland Water Park is just 9 miles away and provides an alternative way to keep cool in the summer sun and a great way to entertain the kids - and adults! CMAC, also on the outskirts of Canandaigua hosts live outdoor music concerts with some great performers.
During summer, our swimming pool is available for our guests to enjoy (seasonal). Very often our guests will be the only ones using the pool. We very occasionally have guests (maximum of three) staying in the main house next door, who also have access to the pool, trails, grounds and parking. No other spaces or amenities are shared. There is still plenty of space to easily social distance and the pool furniture, railings, steps etc will be kept sanitized, with further sanitizer available to use.
Check-in is a breeze with our August Secure Lock System, using your smartphone.
If there is anything you should need during your stay, we are quite often next door and happy to assist, but other than that we think it’s super important to leave you in peace to relax and enjoy your getaway! This balance of being readily available and happy to assist yet mindful of guest privacy is reflected in our guest’s reviews.

Provisions: Wegmans in Canandaigua is the nearest sizable grocery store to replenish provisions and has a superb meat, fish, deli and bakery along with freshly prepared meals. Aldi and Walmart are also highly convenient for picking up provisions.
Bars and Restaurants: Canandaigua offers a great array of bars and restaurant options, and a smaller variety in Naples - we have listed a few favorites in the welcome guide. A little further afield, but well worth the scenic drive, our favorite restaurants are Ports Cafe and Kindred Fare both about 20 miles away in Geneva, which make for excellent options after visiting wineries in that area or the Outlet Shopping Mall.
This is a great region for cycling and hiking enthusiasts. Canandaigua Lake is a nice stroll down the hill or a super-quick drive! Plenty of amenities and attractions are a short drive away either north in Canandaigua or south in Naples. A great base from which to explore!
