This unique 3 bedroom, 3 bath, two-story new luxury home is located on a secluded, end-of-the-road 5 acre property. There are 3050 sq. ft. under roof, including an 8ft wide lanai encircling the home from which mesmerizing ocean and pastoral views are evident from the North ranging East. Mountain views to the West. Interior highlights include redwood heart and cedar construction, exposed beam ceiling and skylight upstairs, exotic wood floors, all fine finishes including granite countertops in kitchen and all baths, marble sinks and tiled floor/walls in all baths, 2 king size beds, 1 queen bed. A short walk down a roped path will lead you to a private waterfall, around 10'-12' high, and natural pool, which has the feel of a grotto. Good hiking is available on the 5 acres, and there is a rushing stream that bounds the back of the property. You never have to leave the property to savor 'Old Hawaii': enjoy the captivating, panoramic views or hike the extensive and exhilarating paths around the property, which borders Hilo Forest Reserve. Summary: The set-up of this property is really amazing, part country-side, part ocean view, and part jungle/rainforest. The two bedrooms downstairs were perfect for the four young adults and the parents stayed upstairs in the side bedroom which was a little cozy, but doable. Beds were very comfortable! We had some resident geckos but they were cute and kept to themselves. We visited the waterfall: the pathway was fairly muddy and slick due to rain but contributed to the jungle atmosphere - it was an adventure getting to the waterfall for sure! We did leave the property everyday and loved coming back to rest in the evening. We loved being at this property and would absolutely come back. Some notes: The driveway is tough. We had a minivan and had some problems getting up each time, not to mention its narrow, there is a slight turn and stone walls on each side when trying to pick up speed to get up the hill. In short, it was another adventure. We were a party of 6 and the dining room table and living room only had room for 4 individuals comfortably. We played games each night and it was tough for the other two people to participate, but we made it work - a bigger table would have been awesome. Again - great property, lots of tips and information from the host which was very appreciated and we would absolutely stay here again!

Summary: Being from Mainland US, this is what I go to Hawaii for. This place is a gem hidden in lush greenery, not in town but close enough for easy supply shopping, there are neighbors, but you really don't see them. It was like living in the "country" with modern amenities, well stocked with linens, utensils and a few basic supplies. The washer/dryer came in handy. Good check-in directions from Carl, our host also helped make the stay enjoyable. Our party of 3 stayed November 2023 for a week and immediately voted "Yes! good find".

Summary: We stayed in this amazing hideaway for 3 nights and we all agree we wish we had stayed longer. From sunrises and sunsets viewed from the second-story 360-degree lanai, to the easy access to local waterfalls and volcanic craters, we had a fantastic time using this 12-sided (dodecahedral?) house as our home base. The house is well-appointed and the kitchen is well-stocked with tools and even condiments needed to cook meals should you choose. WiFi and TV were easy to use. Plenty of seating around the house (inside and out) gave each of us secluded space to relax, and the table and bar-height stools accommodated our family for meals together. Property manager quickly responded to any questions we had. The property is very private, with a closed gate at the bottom of the driveway and no neighbors to be seen or heard. The frogs sing you to sleep at night and the birds sing you awake in the morning. We also loved that the house was powered off of solar panels and water-fed from a thrice-filtered cistern. Highly recommend this fun getaway location! One tip: take the driveway at a quick clip to get up the hill, or rent a 4WD (useful for other adventures) - the sloped gravel drive can get a little tricky if you take it too slow.

Summary: This property was tucked away on a hill near Honomu. The views were expansive and the landscaping was gorgeous. We loved the more than adequate outdoor seating where we spent most of our time when we were not out and about. The bedrooms were good-size and each room had its own bath. The kitchen was well-appointed with all the necessities. The decor was amazing. The unit was close to Volcanoes National Park where we spent an amazing day walking across lava fields and checking out the many steam vents. The lush tropical foliage was incredible with flowers everywhere we looked.
