We are renting out our Spycher (former granary) renovated five years ago, built in the year 1781. The venerable building has a fully fitted kitchen in the ground floor with dining table, ceramic hob, oven, microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. On the first floor there is a double bedroom and toilet with shower. Three additional single beds are available in the attic. Behind the Spycher is a garden patio for our guests with an open fireplace and seats/ lounge. You can borrow bicycles and toys from us for free. About more than 100 animals live on the farm, especially cattle and pigs. We live on agriculture and tourism. Visitors in the barn, on the field or in the forest are always welcome. From Basel: Highway A2/E35 towards Lucerne / Gotthard, exit Rothenburg!
From Zurich: Highway A4/E41 towards Lucerne, diversion Rotsee Highway A2/E35 towards Basel, exit Rothenburg!
From Chiasso: Highway A2/E35 towards Basel, exit Rothenburg!
At Rothenburg exit follow the sign towards Beromünster. Stay on the main road until about 500 metres towards the village of Rothenburg 'Toni's Zoo' and the agricultural machinery workshop 'MEYER' will become visible. 100 metres after these properties take left on the side street 'Wurmistrasse', follow the sign 'Hinderfeld'. Drive on this road up to approximately 2 kilometres. Shortly before the buildings of the farm near the highway rest area 'Lucerne-Neuenkirch' swing to the right in to the farm’s driveway, please watch for the sign 'Hinderfeld'. After another 300 metres you have reached your destination. Welcome to Hinderfeld!
Directions, if travelling by public transport:
Take the train from any direction to the Lucerne central railway station. Leave the railway station and head towards the bus terminal. The bus company 'Auto-AG Rothenburg' connects you to the lines 50, 51 and 52 to the town 'Sandplatten'. Go back there about 200 metres along the main road until a hiking trail sign 'Autobahnraststätte' (highway restaurant) points to a dirt road. After a kilometre this road comes to an end and you come to your destination! Of course we pick you up with your luggage from the bus stop! Hearty welcome!

Summary: The place is clean but small. To get to from the downstairs kitchen/eating area requires using an outside stairway but it is not too bad. No washer/dryer in unit but we were allowed to use them in the main house because airline misplaced our luggage and we had no clean clothes for several days. Whether that is a common practice for washer for use I don't know but host was gracious about it. Rooster crows at the break of dawn but it is a farm. The picture of structure must be old because it shows it somewhat out it the open but in reality there are a couple of campers of adjacent to it. A small grocery store and eatery are a 5 minute walk away. The place is somewhat isolated from things to do but if you have a car, no problem. The price is right for what you get. Wifi is adequate.

Summary: Property was incredibly clean and tidy. Plenty of space within the master bedroom. Kids bedrooms had a tight narrow stairwell so a little difficult to maneuver luggage. The kitchen area is separate from the bedrooms (which can have both advantages and disadvantages). Single bathroom is small but clean and has great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The property is on a working farm so expect the full farm experience including roosters crowing, geese quacking, cows mooing and cats yowling. Views past the farm are picturesque but not exactly visible from the house itself.

Summary: Nice little private place about 15 minutes outside of Lucerne. Good place to launch siteseeing from. It was very clean, and decently stocked. The kitchen is through a seperate door on the main floor, the rooms are through another door and up the stairs. My kids love animals and I love being in the country. I thought this place would offer both, not really the case. There are animals on the farm but you cant get near them. The rabbits and goats are fenced up and we were told they are too aggressive to pet. There are wandering cats you might see. We did get to see the cows and they were kind enough to let my kids watch them get milked and pet them. My kids loved being up close to the cows, but other than that they were pretty disappointed, as was I. As far as nice views, the only thing you can see from the house is the barns that surround it. The pictures posted must be from a long time ago since it looks like the place is all by itself. It is actually right in the middle of the farm. I chose this place because it was advertised as a farm with lots of animals, and even pictures with kids petting and playing with them. It was nice and cool outside but gets pretty hot inside, screens on the windows would be a major upgrade. The host spoke great English but didnt seem to know anything about the sights in Lucerne. For the price I could have stayed in many places in Lucerne. I chose this one for the allure of animals for my kids and the country peace for us. It worked for one night but I wouldn't recommend it for the views and animals.

Summary: House was beautiful with lots of amenities. Hosts were very helpful. Unfortunately the website pictures were slightly misleading with size and positioning of house to farm buildings. We were expecting lovely views but overlooked workshop/dumping ground. The weather was boiling - which obviously was nothing to do with the hosts however with no curtains in any of the rooms and the inability to open the majority of the windows due to high amount of mosquitoes/insects (only a few windows had insect nets on them - and most of these were damaged) the house became unbearable due to heat especially at night - our children were unable to sleep in the loft bedroom so had to sleep in our room and on the corridor! Don't want to put people off as is a wonderful area and location just want to fine tune for other visitors and if the owners addressed these few issues we would certainly think about going again.

Summary: Beautiful views from a working farm. We loved our very clean unique lodgings in an old granary. Our kids also enjoyed using the well worn but serviceable play equipment and bikes. Our hosts were really helpful and available. We had a great time.

Summary: We couldn't ask for anything more. This cute small house has literally everything that we ever needed. Nice farm setting. Beautiful views. Very friendly and helpful hosts Hans & Elena. Our kids ages 7,5,5,& 3 loved the place more than the city of Lucerne itself. Great amenities for kids - trampoline, swing, small trucks and bikes, plus some cows and goats to feed. Comfortable and very clean beds. Very nice bathroom and shower. Fully equipped and cozy kitchen-dining room. Loved the outdoor BBQ and dining area as well. Good value for money. Highly recommended.

Summary: We stayed at this beautiful farm house in late June 2018. Hans and his wife were so helpful and friendly. We were impressed with how well this seemingly small house accommodated our family of 5, with 3 teens (17, 15, 10)!. The house is extremely clean, well kept and well equipped to prepare meals etc. The farm is on the outskirts of Rothenburg with a beautiful view of the Swiss Alps and particularly Mont Pilatus. We enjoyed the tranquility, cool mountain air and the beautiful surroundings. Even the walk to the nearest bus stop was really enjoyable. There are relatively frequent buses to downtown Luzerne so our daytrip to Pilatus (Golden roundtrip is highly recommended) was quite easy. It was such an enjoyable relaxing break. Highly recommended.
