Summary: Actual rates were much lower than On-line booking, very disappointing. Obviously a challenging place to work, but staff were very nice!

Summary: The staff at the Empress Hotel are very kind and helpful. The staff are the reason why we would stay there again. They had some great stories to tell us and made fresh coffee every morning. We also meet some pretty awsome people that were staying there as well and we had some great late night chats. The Empress is in a run down stat and needs a lot of work but it appears they are trying to fix it up. The room we stayed in was not great but it was a place to put our head. Our time at the Empress was good.

Summary: We wanted a place close by Bourbon St. that wasn't expensive....we didn't need a bunch of amenities, just clean and safe. Michelle at the front desk was such a sweetheart!!

Summary: Customer service was amazing for a run down hotel that needs much work. Everything worked to get the jobs done, shower sink & toilet. Bed was acceptable & got the job done. Security was good & no issues with unruly or load guests. Ceiling started leaking which had me concerned. The hotel staff took care of the issues & back to bed I went.

Summary: This is an old hotel that would need to be renowated. However it is cheap and close to the French quarter, Nice people in the reception. Recommended if you need a reasonable hotel, but do not expect everything.

Summary: Was there for NBA All Star and Marci Gras the same weekend. The price was the cheapest I could find. I see why. Hotel is old and in bad shape. Limited parking

Summary: The walls’ surfaces are buckled and cracked. The bath faucet constantly drips. A hole in the bathroom wall let a huge spider in. The window can’t close all the way, so the cold of night gets in. And the heater doesn’t work. Because of the low cost, some poor people live here. It’s disturbing to hear a man beating up his wife/girlfriend in another room, and a mentally ill person cry and shout incoherencies thru the hallway. Each room is suppose to be cleans every day. But I had to keep reminding the front desk for three days, before daily cleaning began on my room. There is no complimentary breakfast; only a thermos of coffee on the balcony. However I found the staff very helpful with information I needed for my stay. They are eager to help visitors book tours. I would only recommend this hotel to the most rugged of budget travelers. If you’re use to things soft and easy, this could kill you. There were others, along with me, who enjoyed our stay in New Orleans.
