Wander Woods Bungalow is built in lovely wooded plot of land. Enjoy the quiet back porch and surround yourself with nature. Or take a short walk to enjoy relaxing, swimming, fishing, fossil hunting at the private community beach on the Potomac River. You might catch a sight of some dolphins, eagles, or herons at the beach. A little further away you can enjoy the fresh water of the private Lake Independence. Take a hike or do some more fossil hunting at Westmoreland State Park only 7 miles away. Spend the day at Historic Stratford Hall Plantation and George Washington's Birthplace in Westmoreland County, Va. This cozy bungalow is close to a variety wineries on the Northern Neck and 2 breweries in the town of Montross. Montross is also known for some amazing restaurants and has 5 out of the 11 best restaurants in the Northern Neck.
There is a spacious deck with plenty of seating for everyone to dine outside with a gas grill. The yard has a set up for a hammock and bonfire with additional seating.

Summary: We loved everything about our stay. Felt like home as soon as we arrived. The neighborhood was very nice with the little beach. The house had everything you might need, we were impressed with how well it was stocked. My ancestors settled in the area so we explored cemeteries and visited the museums and courthouse. Ate out at several nice spots. We will return and get to enjoy outside more. Will try to get back before summer! Had trouble with living room remote. only complaint. The wifi was fine, my daughter worked from home.

Summary: This property is beautiful on the inside and the online photos don’t do justice to the cozy and well decorated feel of the place. There was plenty of space for our family of four. The kitchen and bathrooms and other areas have been renovated with lots of thoughtful amenities like shelves and hooks for hanging things. We loved being able to walk to the neighborhood beach and hunt for sharks teeth. Good water pressure in the showers and comfy beds. Checkin and checkout, and communication with the host were smooth and easy! We would be happy to return, and would recommend it to others!

Summary: The pictures don't do this place justice; it's cuter in person. It's clear the owners have put the effort into making this a nice getaway. We went to the area to look for fossils. The house is close to Stratford Hall and Westmoreland State Park is about 10 minutes away, but the neighborhood's private beach is an 8 minute walk and full of all the same fossils. Very convenient! The house was comfortable and quiet. The back yard has a nice fire pit setup with chairs and benches, with enough trees around you to make it feel a bit secluded. We had half a dozen deer meandering through the yard one afternoon. We had a minor issue with the Internet and the hosts were quick to respond and get it sorted out. I always like to know what the kitchen of rental places has, so for anyone curious: the kitchen is stocked sufficiently for casual cooking for a family of 4-6. Any more than that and you might need to do dishes mid-day. There is a toaster and coffee maker provided. For entertainment, each bedroom and the living room has a smart TV. There are some board games and puzzles and a good selection of DVDs, too. We would definitely come back here again. It was a nice place to spend a few days away from home.
